I want to start this review by saying that our foreman, Javier, and his team, get an A for the professionalism of their work. They did an excellent job installing two storage lofts in our garage, and Javier was very communicative the entire time he and his team were on site doing the work. I'm giving Goodfellas 2 stars because of how they handled our pricing situation, and how I feel as though we were taken advantage of. Initially when the salesman, Abraham, came out he thought the job would require way more work than was needed. After the engineer came out he said we didn't need to do any of that, and Abraham had to come back out a second time (this time with Javier) to give a better estimate for what type of work was required. When they initially made the price, we were quoted $15,800 for labor & supplies for 2 loft storage units, demolition of the walls to access the studs, and restoration, and that it would take 10 days to complete. When Javier started the work, it took his team 3.5 days to complete the lofts, and they never had to demo the walls (which I'm sure saved them a lot of time and supplies). When the work was complete, I initially asked the Project Manager, Chris, about adjusting the price to make up for the work they did not end up doing. On the phone I could tell he was not happy about me asking this, and directed me back to Abraham. When I talked with Abraham, he was incredibly dismissive of my request. He repeatedly said he didn't know what I was asking for, or didn't understand because we were happy with the work so why wouldn't we pay the original cost even though they didn't do all the work we were originally quoted for? I ended up calling the office and chatted with someone there, who was very friendly and told me that in construction they don't give discounts for work that's completed faster, only if they go over their time estimate. We understand that we are paying for the company, not only the people doing the work, but the fact is they ended up not doing all the work we were originally quoted for - and the quote also included materials they never ended up using. In the end we were given a $500 discount. I feel as though we've been taken advantage of and we are greatly disappointed with how unprofessional the salesman was when we came back asking for a price adjustment. I had also asked for an itemized list of materials to see what the cost breakdown was, but they were not able to supply that for us, which deepens our suspicions that they could have reasoned with us over the final cost but didn't want to. Lesson learned - if you are doing a construction job, get multiple quotes and make sure the final cost is flexible if some of the items on the work list are not needed. It should've been a red flag from the beginning when the salesman tried to oversell the job to us, but this was our first time hiring a construction company so we weren't sure what to look for. We went with Goodfella's solely because of their reviews, and I dismissed the few bad reviews thinking it wouldn't happen to us. Again, an A for Javier and his construction team. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat if they didn't work for Goodfellas.
