Pool heater would not ignite. Contacted Genie Pool/Spa to have a technician come out and troubleshoot the heater and prepare it for use (We hadn’t used the heater for 8 years and so wanted to get it cleaned up and make sure there wasn’t anything else needing attention). The people I talked to in the office were very courteous and professional. Genie was able to send a technician out the next afternoon. They give you a 4 hour window, or you can leave the gate unlocked. They also required a $125 deposit (check) on the first visit, which went towards the repair service. As suspected, it was the ignition controller. I asked what the cost estimate would be, but the office didn’t have the paper work, and so basically I had to wait until after the work was done and receive the final bill. I wasn’t overly concerned as I knew that a controller could be purchased online for about $225. A few days later, the technician returned and replaced the controller. Heater fixed. The final bill was for $125 in labor and $275 for the controller. Essentially, all of the work was done while I was at work.
