A couple months ago, I worked very closely with Nina on a commercial property mold removal project that was very time sensitive. I was out of state from the work site, so Nina and her crew provided daily pictures of the progress. It was fantastic to see the progress while I was 500 miles away. The project was very large but they finished the work in less time than estimated. The quality of the work was fantastic and her crews were very flexible as we were removing equipment at the same time. The price was significantly better than another company that quoted the work. Look, you're not calling a company like FWDR because something happy has happened... Our refrigerator flooded our kitchen - exposing a small, long-term leak that had slowly destroyed our cabinets, drywall, and floors without for years our knowledge. Richard has been great and i would definitely recommend him to anyone. We had a pipe burst in our house that caused substantial damages and required the removal of dry wall and flooring. During this work, mold was uncovered in the wall and floor and we were left with an open moldy hole in the wall and a serious mold problem in the house. I immediately called Richard to perform an inspection to see how bad the problem was. He came very promptly and was very reassuring and informative. He performed a very thorough mold inspection and found additional mold that we were not aware of in the crawl space under our house and had also been caused by our flooding event. He performed airborne testing and swab testing and returned a very professional report to us showing that we had high levels of mold inside our house and crawlspace and what species were present. He provided detailed recommendations for mold remediation and a referral to a company for pasteurization. The company he referred us to were great and performed the mold abatement and Richard then returned to perform additional testing once that was complete. Richard has been very professional and helpful to us, even going the extra mile to help us with an insurance claim and we would definitely hire him again if the need arose.

As I explained above, I called the number for the San Francisco office to inquire about having a mold inspection done, and how much it would cost to have that done. I don't know who I talked to, except he was very knowledgeable and he said that in order to get an estimate, I would have to give him information about where the mold was, what type of mold I thought it was, and where I lived (since they also charged by mileage). When I explained that it was black mold on the under side of the deck, mainly on the support structure; he said that I didn't need their services. If the deck was in good shape, all I needed was a handyman (wearing a mask!) sand off a little of the deck. Mold will only penetrate wood by 1/64", so a little sanding, then seal off the boards, either with a stain or paint. Once you seal it, the mold won't come back. If you don't seal it, the mold will reappear within 5 years. I was very impressed that they turned down a job like that and took the time to explain to me what needs to be done, in detail. I think this is the first time I've ever had a vendor let me go without selling me something!

Richard is care, nice and professional. He really speed up the whole process. He came one day earlier while I told my daughter is only 4 years old and concern about the risk of mold. He also gave us lots of valuable suggestion of mold treatment. Also he pushed the lab to process faster. It is really bad while you need mold service but it will be good to have some like Rich to help you.

Rich and his team did an excellent job. Tested for mold throughout house and crawlspace to determine issues w mold and provided a lab report. Mold remediation company recommended. Bingo - this moisture test confirmed that we had a water leakage problem and arranged for a mold test to identify the degree of the mold problem. After the water damaged areas are removed, we will need to conduct a 'heat pasteurization' of the entire house to kill all the mold spores. Mike Ell has provided us a quote to perform this heat pasteurization effort. Overall, to date, Mike has been a terrific resource helping us with this very unpleasant situation.

Rich was prompt, courteous and professional. There was one glitch when Certified Disaster Cleaning had not understood that they were to also heat treat the understructure, but Rich took care of it right away. He provided a complete lab report after the work, which came out clean.

Recent Review: I thought there was mold in the home due to some health issues I was experiencing. The testing was quick and when the results came back, the assessor explained everything to me. Thank goodness I didn’t have mold! But if I did, I would have gone with Green Home Solutions! I will definitely refer them to friend and family!

What is The Mold Removal Process?
Please refer to the EPA for the full process. Here is the 9-step mold removal process you can expect:
- Fix the issue that caused the flooding or the leak.
- Section off or quarantine the mold damaged rooms. This could involve covering the doors and windows with plastic sheets.
- Mist the damaged areas for dust to prevent it from going airborne during the next phases.
- Remove and throw away all mold-covered materials in 6-mil plastic bags. There is a list with the EPA on what exact materials need to be removed for proper risk mitigation.
- Clean all surfaces with a wire brush, disposable wipes and then a follow up with several applications of a bleach solution with rags and a mop.
- All disposable wipes should be sealed in plastic bags. Throughout the process some of bags will need to be double wrapped. The bags can be thrown away into regular trash once sealed.
- Clean the room with a HEPA vacuum.
- Dry the area with a large industrial fan.
- Double check for moisture or any remaining mold. The removed pieces of wall, window frames, etc. can now be rebuilt using fresh materials.
