A & H Heating
5.0
Discovered that much of the heating ducting in my attic was not connected. Therefore I was heating the attic instead of the house. A&H came out and gave me two options; replace it all for $3500 or fix it on a time and material basis. Obviously selected option two. Manuel and Eddie showed up as scheduled, were extremely neat and courteous and fast. Would recommend them.

Excellent - one side of the house was underperforming, he fixed heat leaks, checked operation and it works great, even on 110F days

Made two appointments, but Sam did not show up to either one. He offered to reschedule a 3rd appointment, but I decided to go with a different contractor.

Service counter person was quick tell me it would cost 2 hours labor ($230) to receive an estimate. That includes 1 hour travel time to and from my home and 1 hour to diagnose the problem. This was before we had any discussion about how far I lived from the business (which is only 10 minutes) or the size/type of heater I had or problems with the unit. My overall feeling was that I was being dismissed and my business was not wanted. From the looks of their business the do large industrial type work. They look very professional. But don't seem to have time for smaller single residence type work. I will be looking for a smaller establishment who'll appreciate my business.

They are very reliable. They do good work and give us good quotes. They don't try to gauge us. Their price is very competitive.

Roy is the go-to guy for heating repairs. He's who you dream about handling your problems that you never seem to find very often in real life. Excellent responsiveness, technical skills and accommodation (on checking my ancillary problems with the furnace). Very good price for the time he spent doing the job; used my Angies List coupon for the service call ($25 off) and received the Senior 10% discount as advertised in the listing. If I could give ++ in the A ratings, would have done so. Will definitely have him back for HVAC repair / replacement should it be needed.

My radiant heating went out over the weekend. I was surprised how few shops supported anything beyond forced air, modern HVAC systems. I called several heating repair businesses and Hussey Bros was one of the few that had someone actually pick up the phone. They were able to send somebody same day to look into the issue. Claudio was the technician who arrived promptly. He diagnosed the problem quickly and stuck around to make sure the fix worked. He was pleasant and professional. The rate I received from Hussey was 15-50% cheaper than anyone else I called. I highly recommend them.

Greg is a fraud and a fake. He could not repair or troubleshoot the easiest of heaters (a gravity fed wall heater). He did not listen to the description of the problem, do any test, make any adjustments or repairs - yet claimed to fix the problem. I had to let him waste my time because this was through a home warranty, he was sent and working for the home warranty company. He tried, unsuccessfully, to claim that my problem was with ducting and structure not mechanical -thus outside the home warranty. He is a liar and was proven wrong. A real technician of my choosing fix the problem which was mechanical. If you want a lot of BS use Greg. He actually said this; The house was pointed in the wrong direction toward the prevailing winds. He was a waste of time and stupid. Unfortunately I had to listen to his fallacies before I could call a real heating repair company because of the home warranty rules. What a joke! And I have told many local building contractors and architect.

1. Thermostat replacement. Charged $130 for service call, where he diagnosed a faulty thermostat in about 1 minute. Charged $98 for the replacement thermostat. 2. A/C repair Didn't really want to work on A/C at the beginning of winter, asked me to delay it to accommodate other customers' urgent heating repairs. I was agreeable. Finally they diagnosed leaking evaporator coils and replaced those. I think the part costs around $500 and it was 1/2 day work for 2 people, including redoing the rain lines, flushing the lines, "filter dryer"(?), and 10lb new refrigerant, total $1895, which they didn't itemize on the invoice. Hidden inside the manual for the compressor was instructions for registering for the extended warranty. I didn't notice it; they didn't point it out. It still didn't work, and they were good about allowing me to defer payment until they could identify the next problem a couple of weeks later, a bad low pressure cutoff valve. They replaced that, and didn't charge me for it because it still wasn't working, and they think water got into the compressor unit, because of the leaky coils, which has to be completely replaced. (I think that could have been figured out earlier and they shouldn't have sold me the new refrigerant, which probably has to be flushed out and discarded.) At that point I paid for the work already done, but it's still not working. They promised a quote on the new compressor, but never got it. Called to remind them, and again they didn't follow up. Now, 2 months later, I'm giving up and looking for a different company to finish the repair.

L.J Kruse Co

Overall, the work got done by Kruse Plumbing to the satisfaction of the building inspectors, we got a permit and sold the property. The repair people kept several appointments, were efficient and on time. The dispatcher at the home office was very nice to work with. I do not blame these individuals. But the management of the company is clearly at fault in customer relations and work-related issues. That the owner of the L.J. Kruse Company could not even take the time to answer our letters or telephone us at our request is unforgiveable. Most of our dealings with L. J. Kruse Company were highly unsatisfactory.
