Application fee, not Stripe

Hi,

We tried to make two donations using Stripe and noticed in Stripe’s backend that there were “Application fees” on each of them. According to Stripe’s support, this is not them, but any third-party.

No other third-party applications than Give are used in the donation process. Is this Give and why that amount (0.97 on each (on donations of 48.48 and 48.37 respectively), from European card).

Hi there,

In addition to Stripe’s processing fees, the free Stripe gateway has an additional 2% fee associated. The 2% fee only applies to one-time donations processed via the Stripe gateway when using the free Stripe gateway.

If you’d like to remove the additonal 2% fee, you can either:
1. Purchase and activate the Premium Stripe gateway.
2. Purchase and activate the Recurring Donations gateway — the recurring donations will never have fees added to them.

Our aim is to empower more small causes to accept more donations on their website. We can do this more effectively by funding the support and development necessary to support Stripe in the free plugin.

Hi again and thank you for the reply!

So, just to confirm, “Application fee” is a Stripe fee? Stripe support was adamant about this not being the case. This leaves me in ambiguity, who to listen to: Stripe or you? Also, if I return to Stripe with this information, I am afraid support will give me same answer as before.

Also, can’t seem to find Premium for Stripe and Swedish customers (googled). Would you be so kind to point me in the right direction?

When you go to connect to Stripe within out plugin, you’ll see this notice:

The free Stripe payment gateway includes an additional 2% fee for processing one-time donations. This fee is removed by activating the premium Stripe add-on and never applies to subscription donations made through the Recurring Donations add-on. Learn More >

That is a commission fee from us in addition to Stripe’s normal credit card processing fees. This additional fee only exists within our free Stripe integration. If you want to remove those fees, you can purchase the Stripe add-on individually or via any of our Pricing Plans.
