    Hi,

How does the plugin automatically get the meta description for pages? I see that it is not reading the contents of the page and the auto-description is only two words.

    Hi Maria,

It generates a meta description based in the following numerical order, when found it will stop looking.

    1. From the Custom Post/Page Description input.
    2. From the excerpt (it trims it to ~155 chars).
    3. From the Post/Page content (it trims to ~155 chars):
    1. Based on the global SEO settings, it adds a prefix.
    2. Based on some filters, it either includes or excludes (default excludes) shortcode output.
    3. Based on a page builder, it might completely exclude the content; as some themes (e.g. Divi) and plugins (e.g. Beaver Builder) cause unexpected behavior with such generation.
    1. This only happens when a page builder is active for such Page or Post.

Finally, it will always clean and beautify its output.
Based on filters, it might also output shortcodes (by default they’re stripped).

I hope this clears things up and will help you track the originating issue.

    Cheers!
