Installation

Minimum Requirements

  • WordPress 5.0.0 or greater
  • PHP version 7.3 or greater
  • MySQL version 5.6 or greater

Automatic installation

Automatic installation is the easiest option as WordPress handles the file transfers itself and you don’t even need to leave your web browser.

  1. Go to your WordPress Plugin installation menu (Dashboard > Plugins > Add New)
  2. In the search field type Gutenberg Post Blocks” and press enter.
  3. “Install Now” and then click “Active”

Manual installation

For Manual installation, you download our product from WordPress directory uploading it to your web-server via your FTP or CPanel application.

  1. Download the plugin and unzip it
  2. Using an FTP program or CPanel upload the unzipped plugin folder to your WordPress installation’s wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  3. Activate the plugin from the Plugins menu (Dashboard > Plugins > Installed Plugins) within the WordPress admin.

Upgrading

Automatic update working great for this plugin. If you customize the plugin make sure to store a backup before update.

Sometimes because of the permalink issue during the plugin update, just go to WordPress > Settings > Permalinks and hit the ‘Save’ button.

Good but tries to do too much

I landed here since the Gutenberg Query Loop is so limited at actually querying the loop it's practically useless. Anyway, in terms of PostX: Pros Allows you to filter and display pretty much anything Cons Weird approach to inserting the loop, basically multiple blocks which are different layouts of the same block is just bizarre. Cannot create your own layouts Cannot nest other blocks [I suspect since it's likely based on a shortcode generator at it's core] Loads of setting you'll never need, e.g line height etc which should be universal. If you're using them then you're building a site in the wrong way.

Annoying pop up

No matter how many times I clicked no thanks, after every refresh this pops up in my backend again - Allow PostX to collect non-sensitive diagnostic data and usage information. It's like they are forcing me to click on allow. Disgusting, Disallowing one time should be enough. I don't want to share my data!!!

I am building a site for my writing (poetry and flash fiction) using my own full site editing block based theme, starting absolutely from scratch. I need a great filtered post gallery and listing plugin, and I am happy to say I have found it. The plugin works with its almost 20 amazing blocks, 100% with the Gutenberg plugin installed in full site editing mode, with my own rudimentary block based theme activated. The only problem I have found is that one of the blocks (individual post slider) does not function in the editor. If you insert it in a page, on the front end it does work (with default settings and with all posts). But in the editor the block cannot be previewed and the inspector offers no settings at all. However, I have submitted a ticket and have no doubt the problem will be resolved, especially taking into account I am using an experimental system. I also want to applaud the fact that in my testing under different environments and WP instances, I had to deactivate many times, and while the usual popup comes up requiring your reason for deactivating, there is both an anonymous option, as well as a quick link no fuss direct deactivation option. There are adverts in the admin panel, but they can be dismissed and turned off in the settings. It's a wonderful plugin and after testing for several hours I definitely recommend it as being the most powerful, robust and Gutenberg friendly plugin in its class. It's also very well documented on their site, together with a host of examples and howto's. There's even a very promising roadmap too.
