At the Television Academy, the Emmys are never far from our thoughts.

But at this time of year, expectations for our annual celebrations of television excellence increase every day. We are thrilled to be welcoming live audiences back to the Emmys this year. Attendance will be limited, in compliance with health and safety directives, but the more intimate environment will not dampen the excitement and professional camaraderie that energize every Emmy night.

Then again, energy is never an issue for the wonderful and funny Cedric the Entertainer, host of our primetime telecast, who brings humor and heart to everything he does. Cedric is a longtime friend and supporter of the Academy and our Foundation, and we are delighted that he will be front and center as we honor the outstanding achievements of our industry colleagues over the past year.

Joining Cedric is the top-flight production team that collaborated on last year’s Emmys: executive producer Reginald Hudlin, of Hudlin Entertainment, and, from Done+Dusted, executive producer Ian Stewart and director Hamish Hamilton.

Faced with the daunting logistical and technical challenges of an all-remote event — with more than 130 live feeds across multiple continents — this elite crew guided our 2020 ceremonies with poise and panache. With a consummate creative partner in Cedric, they are sure to make this year’s Emmys another night to remember.

Be sure to tune in live to CBS September 19 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET. And don’t forget, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be presented in a trio of ceremonies — one on September 11 and two on September 12. Highlights from all three events will air September 18 on FXX at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The Creative Arts Emmys will be produced by Bob Bain Productions.

All four shows will follow Covid-19 guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone involved. And, of course, we remain committed to the goals of every Emmy Awards: to honor the nominees, to honor the excellence of the past year in television and to unite — whether in person or across screens — as a community of professionals who love making television as much as we love watching it.
