Description
Comments to trashed or removed posts need to be visible with a clear note in the 'In response to' column that they are related to the trashed/removed post.

Thanks for the ticket!
Just noting that this is probably intentional. There was some discussion previously in #37826, and the consensus appears to be that (quoting from comment:4:ticket:37826) just as you can't edit posts in the trash you shouldn't be able to moderate comments of said posts, and would need to restore them first.

Could you clarify why comments on a trashed post would need to be removed or trashed separately? Are there any scenarios where a post is trashed, but its comments are still visible?
If you have a use case for managing comments on a trashed post, that might help move the ticket forward.

At first glance, it doesn't look right, this number of approved (X) where nothing to be seen. And if something doesn't look right it feels like a bug.
Comments will be removed with the post if it will be removed permanently and it isn't obvious either. So, if the post is in the trash, related comments are in fact it trash also and supposed to be seen there.
If the post is going to remove permanently it needs to be obvious that related comments will be removed too otherwise user can suspect that they will be left somewhere in the database like useless items.
I have a case where I had a need to keep comments: with products where I had similar products in-store with different colors, for, example, I made comments from all similar products to show up for these products and we were keeping and showing the comments even hiding some of the products from catalog (we tried not to remove anything permanently of course but some times you need to remove products because you made duplicates accidentally etc) Sometimes comments are a valuable asset for customers and SEO.
