"These people are great. On time, extremely clean, very professional. They cleaned out the old insulation from our attic, disinfected the entire space, sealed any holes, placed covers over all recessed lights in the attic to prevent heat loss from the second floor into the attic, and weather stripped the pull down stairase into the attic to prevent heat loss there as well. We used cellulose insulation which can be very dusty. Not with these people. They cleaned everything including the driveway. They are superb."

"They did a great job. Had a small bump in the road at first, but they bent over backwards to make everything right. Matt is great and followed up every step if the way. I love my new attic storage and finally have decent insulation!!! And the guy who patched the ceiling wasn't horrible to look at, so that's always a plus!! :) They were really great about cleaning up and gave me some awesome tips for some DIY stuff I wanted to do. I tried to stay out of the way, but couldn't resist asking a couple of questions here and there so I wouldn't completely screw up my house when I got brave and decided to do something myself!! Would definitely recommend them and will call them again when I have another big project that I need done."

"I would recommend this company immediately for anyone looking to have insulation work done. Our house was extremely drafty and bills for heating and cooling were high- after the initial consult , I was sold and hired them. The job was no small task but I was very impressed with the teams professionalism, attention to detail and their very special attention to keeping the place in some order in between the days of the project. I can't say anything negative about any part of the experience- even the ceiling repair team was amazing. Thank you John, Scott and team!"

"We recently purchased a new home and - based on several issues inside - knew it would need a new roof. After reaching out to several companies for quotes, we decided on the team at Elevation Build for several reasons: accurate estimates, experience, and proven work. Max came out and spoke with us. During that conversation, he noted several deficiencies with the current roof, including missing drip edging and several spots that looked like it would need new plywood. This was not a scare tactic, it was a fact and was something the others failed to notice or include in their pricing. During the work, the estimates were validated as the existing material had dry-rot and wetness from the failing roof. Had that material not been replaced, it could have led to problems (like a failing roof or rafter issues). The materials needed to correct these issues were included as part of the estimate and - in the end - were correct as our roof needed at least six sheets of plywood. They used an excellent grade plywood to replace the failed materials. These guys could have done what many contractors do, skimp on material or not even bother fixing the issues. They did not they made sure to correct problems before putting on a new roof. I appreciate them for taking time to do it right, and help my family understand what would be needed up front. Too many times, surprises jump out after work has begun leading to increased costs. Not everything can be known up front, but Elevation Build took the time to set expectations up front so it would be right in the end. I am grateful to them for helping to protect my family's home."

Frequently Asked Questions

What is insulation?

+

Insulation is material that provides a barrier within a home’s walls, ceilings, and floors to regulate temperature and noise. If your home gets overly hot in the summer and cold in the winter, it’s likely not insulated properly.

Insulation efficiency is measured by R-value, which determines how resistant different types of insulation are to heat flow (or energy loss). R-values are measured by inch of thickness. The higher the R-value, the better the performance and the higher the price.

How much does insulation cost?

+

Our project data lists insulation costs between $1,400 and $6,300, but your final price will depend on the type of insulation you choose, its R-value, and how much you need.

  • Fiberglass insulation: $0.30 – $1.50
  • Blown-in insulation: $1 – $2
  • Spray foam insulation: $0.50 – $2
  • Radiant insulation: $0.20 – $1
  • Rigid board insulation: $0.25 – $1

Luckily, insulation is one of the best investments you can make in your home—it has an ROI of at least 100%, meaning you’ll likely make back what you spend in a few years or so.

What is insulation made of?

+

Insulation is made of many different materials, which can also impact the R-value needed for energy efficiency.

  • Fiberglass: The most common insulation material made from glass. Fiberglass is a skin and lung irritant, so you’ll need to wear gloves and clothing when working with fiberglass insulation.
  • Cellulose: Made from recycled paper products, plus borate for fire and insect resistance.
  • Foam: Made from polystyrene, polyisocyanurate, or polyurethane plastic. You can also install cement-based foam insulation using rigid foam boards.
  • Mineral wool: Made of fire-resistant rock wool, a mix of natural materials, or slag wool, made from a molten metal product.
  • Natural fibers: Made from various recycled natural materials, including cotton, sheep’s wool, and straw.

Where is insulation in a house?

+

If your attic is unfinished or you’ve ever demolished an interior wall, you might notice batt or spray foam insulation between the studs. Putting insulation between your walls and floors helps keep your home comfortable and your energy costs down. In addition to walls and attics, you can install insulation in your garage, in floors above vented crawl spaces, and basements.

  • Garage Insulation: $0.50 to $1.25 per square foot
  • Floor and crawl space insulation: $1 to $5 per square foot
  • Basement insulation: $1.50 to $2.50 per square foot
  • Wall insulation: $1 to $4 per square foot
  • Attic insulation: $1,500 to $6,000
  • Roof insulation: $1,500 to $4,500 or more

What are the different types of insulation?

+

There are a few types of home insulation, and they all are made of different materials— most commonly, fiberglass, cellulose, and foam. Insulation includes these materials in the following forms:

  • Loose-fill: Also called “blown-in,” loose-fill is sprayed into wall cavities, attics, and other oddly-shaped areas using special equipment. This insulation is usually made of fiberglass, cellulose, or mineral wool.
  • Batts: An affordable insulation blanket best for unfinished spaces, such as between framing, studs, or joists. They come in pre-cut sections suitable for DIY installation and are mostly made from fiberglass, though other versions are also available.
  • Rolls: Similar to batt insulation, but comes in rolls. Its make-up leaves less chance for gaps between sections and is more efficient than other types.
  • Foam board: One of the most popular insulation types that can be used almost anywhere in your home. Foam boards also have a high R-value.
  • Spray foam: Expands and hardens to fill gaps, small and large. Can be closed-cell or open-cell, but closed-cell has a higher R-value, making it more expensive per square foot.
  • Radiant barriers: Does not reduce heat flow but directs heat away from the home instead. Radiant barriers are DIY-friendly and affordable, but they won’t be as effective in the winter months.
