as you may have already noticed, the several wikis and other websites of
the Free Knowledge Institute and the Free Technology Academy have
published very little "good" content lately. This was due to a
combination of two factors:

Both have been active community members within the free knowledge - free technology community. Both bring in new energy, large networks, ideas and initiatives that are expected to strengthen the Free Knowledge community.

1. Our lustrum: adopting the strategy

Advocates of freedom of information and citizen's rights achieved an overwhelming victory when the European Parliament rejected the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) on July 4th.

The Free Knowledge Institute is among the signatories of the following joint press release by 53 European and International organisations to invite Members of European Parliament to reject ACTA, and beyond, engage in a positive reform of copyright and patents.

ACTA threatens fundamental freedoms online, Net neutrality, innovation, access to and sharing of free/libre/open technologies, education, culture, essential medicines and seeds.

The Free Knowledge Institute is redesigning its Strategy for the coming years and invites you all to comment. The FKI enters a new phase and is expanding its areas of work into new domains. Moreover, the Institute seeks to open itself up to participation and to help participants realise the vision of a culture of free knowledge. We introduce several opportunities in the areas of learning, activism, and economic sustainability. We are very interested to know what you want the FKI to be and what the FKI can do for you!

The FKI has been working on a full-blown new strategy for a while now. Soon we will be able to publish our envisaged mission and goals, together with a framework of domains and actions. At this point, we are translating various brainstorm sessions into a draft workplan. It all takes time... but we hope to invite you for comments and inputs shortly!
