I recommended and installed Jetpack on customer websites. I was doing this because of the free CDN mostly.

But, CDN doesn’t always work well (sometimes the pictures do not show).

Jetpack is also becoming more and more aggressive.

For example, it forces logging using wordpress.com.

There are also more and more promotional materials which mislead my clients. For example, they keep asking “Is my website is not safe, because that’s what it says in the admin panel”. Then I have to explain to them that the website is safe and has backup copies, and these are only promotional materials.

I don’t mind if they buy the paid version of the jetpack. I even recommend it to them to buy the paid version, but I’m tired of mislead them by Jetpack.

Therefore, I stop using Jetpack and recommend it to clients.

    Hi @k83uhse6v

For example, it forces logging using wordpress.com.

This is how the site is able to utilize the WordPress.com features, which takes a load off your site’s server. Without logging into WordPress.com, these features are not accessible.

There are also more and more promotional materials which mislead my clients. For example, they keep asking “Is my website is not safe, because that’s what it says in the admin panel”. Then I have to explain to them that the website is safe and has backup copies, and these are only promotional materials.

Thank you for the feedback on this. We will pass this along to our marketing folks.

    Hi Bruce,

The load is not a problem. User confusion is.

Feature availability is one thing. Forcing login to panel through wordpress.com is a completely different thing.

    Hi @k83uhse6v

The next Jetpack release will allow you to connect a site, without actually signing into a WordPress.com account, so you can take advantage of those features that don’t require a WordPress.com connection. However, the dashboard will still prompt users to connect their account in case they want to use the features that require it.

    Hi @drawmyface,

    thank you for your answer.

This is not what I meant.

I understand that some features are closed behind a wordpress.com account. You have chosen a centralized SaaS model. I have accepted that and we can move on.

But why Jetpack forcing login to WordPress dashboard via wordpress.com account?

    Edit.

I have to apologize to you @drawmyface and your team. The customer checked “Allow users to log in to this site using WordPress.com accounts” option.

That’s why Jetpack was pushing login via worpdress.com.

I am also changing the ranking to 4 stars, not five due to the CDN not always working 🙂

I’m happy to hear that you’ve been able to figure out where the login stuff was coming from. Nice work. 🙂

As far as the CDN not working, would you like us to look into that? As long as your Jetpack connection is active, the CDN should be working fine.

Hi @k83uhse6v, thanks for your feedback on the promotional messages. We’re working on updating them so they are less concerning or confusing for people.

I wanted to share if you were interested, we have a hook where you can remove these messages from your customers’ sites if you would like. Details are here: https://developer.jetpack.com/hooks/jetpack_just_in_time_msgs/
