Welcome. Please note that this page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.
Shortcuts

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions (G6) or stale Articles for creation drafts (G13)), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied, restored as a draft or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

Deleted mainspace articles may be refunded back to mainspace (eg for late contest of a WP:PROD deletion), or to userspace or draftspace. Depending on the circumstances, a refund request to mainspace might be rejected, but a refund request to draftspace or userspace might be accepted. Be clear as to which namespace is intended, when requesting a refund of a deleted article.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of pages and files which have already been deleted. If the page you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page. Please do not request that pages deleted under speedy deletion criteria F7, F9, F11, U5, A7, A9, A11, G3, G4, G10, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

Bear in mind that requests for undeletion are not and never a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you try to discuss but are still unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Template:Star Wars drafts[edit]

This was deleted in regards to a sockpuppet editor being the main contributor, but it was a worthwhile template that I was actively watching/helping to maintain. Additionally, there was built in code to the template to autocategorize articles with Category:Star Wars drafts, so by deleting it for the reasons it was, essentially gutted that category. If the template can't be restored with its former history, if an attending admin could at least view the history/wikicode and retrieve that to share with me, that would be helpful as I wish to restore this template's use and function. —Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:41, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[]

However, that doesn't really help in the fact that I don't know/remember which articles were actually included in such navigation template.         • The navigation was the contentious part, that is why I left it off. And if it is reinstated, I would have to credit the banned user. Your contribution was to remove a "*" from Draft:The Mandalorian (season 3) and Draft:The Mandalorian (season 4). Others included Draft:Ahsoka (TV series); Draft:The Acolyte (TV series) Draft:Lando (TV series) Draft:D-0 Droid Draft:Ezra Bridger Draft:Dr. Pershing Draft:Ki-Adi-Mundi. Instead of a navigation template, how about making use of Wikipedia:WikiProject Star Wars and tag the draft talk pages for this project.           • @Graeme Bartlett: For the intent of what this is and does, I don't believe integration to a talk page WikiProject banner is the correct move. Though I do have a question about if this were recreated (essentially as it was when deleted), why would the banned user need to be credited? Additionally, not just in this case but generally, if a banned user did make a full or partial meaningful and useful edit, but that gets removed but should remain, another editor can't come and reinstate? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 02:38, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[]
            Please note that Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2021 August 16#Template:Star Wars drafts saw the template kept. Just because a sockpuppet created a technical template that a lot of other users use, is not a reason to go ahead and delete it or to ignore the TfD result. Note that WP:G5 should not be applied to transcluded templates [...] that may be useful. This template should be restored to the pre-deletion version. Gonnym (talk) 22:46, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[]
            The TfD was separate to the G5 sock deletion, but I was not aware of the part of G5 regarding transcluded templates, so per Gonnym indicating such, then yes I think this should be fully restored. Seeing how this discussing has progressed, I would like to ping Liz who was the deleting admin so she is aware of the discussion here (we briefly had a similar discussion on her talk page here before I started the wider one here). - Favre1fan93 (talk) 23:28, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[]

Thanks, Muboshgu! I've no strong opinion on this, but am in general opposed to keeping or restoring sockpuppet content. I have absolutely no objection to restoration of the original redirect that was histmerged there, or to creation of a new page at the title, but am in any case content for you to do as you think best. PayScale[edit]

An exceptionally poor PROD deletion. I attempted to challenge a week ago at the deleting admin's talk page, but she has not communicated. Transcluding the discussion:

Hi Liz! In May, you deleted the article for PayScale after its PROD from ScottishFinnishRadish expired. Per Archive.org, the references on the page at the time included six sources that each look to me to clearly qualify for WP:NORG:

Could you please restore the article?

I know you put in a lot of work to handle the PROD queue, but I have to say that instances like this make me question whether the system should exist. When topics like this are being deleted, it doesn't seem that there are enough safeguards in place to preserve valid work by writers, especially while the redirect restoration issue remains unresolved. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 02:51, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

Per NORG, articles discussing new hires, promotions, valuations, rounds of funding, etc do not contribute to notability. We're left with no where near enough sourcing to establish notability. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:41, 5 October 2021 (UTC)
ScottishFinnishRadish, that's an (understandable) misinterpretation of WP:NORG. What that guideline dictates is that articles consisting only of hires/promotions don't contribute to notability; it doesn't dictate that any article discussing a hire/promotion doesn't contribute. I'll grant that the Business Journal one is perhaps a little borderline, but it's still clearly a reported article that has many details about the company beyond just announcing the new CEO. Ones like Geekwire, at more than 600 words, aren't borderline at all. And then there's sources like the 2006 TechCrunch profile or the 1400-word New York Times profile that aren't related to any of the trivial coverage examples. You could always try taking it to AfD after it's restored, but it's not a close call (especially given that a WP:BEFORE would turn up additional substantial coverage like [1]), which is why I was disconcerted to see it deleted via the PROD process. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 19:57, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

Any time a PROD is contested at RFUD, the article is undeleted, no questions asked. That is the "safeguard" that's in place to WP:PRESERVE. That said, the decision to delete the article was the right call, because the PROD was in place for seven days and, not knowing what Liz thought of it, I'm not convinced it's a notable organization. I dropped the ball on this. I'm behind on responding to messages on my talk page. Apologies to you, Sdkb, I get busy doing my daily rounds of tasks. In general though, I prefer for editors to come to WP:REFUND rather than asking me to restore pages I've deleted. This isn't a Wikipedia rule or guideline, I just prefer a different person restore pages I've deleted, a second set of eyes on pages feels like a good checks & balance system.
