I love how easy the Pantheon platform is to use for more advanced deployments. The tools are incorporated in such a way that it just works and I don't have to worry as much about issues on my live site because I've been able to throughly develop and test code changes. Automatic backups and Git integration are also second to none. The support I've received has always been top notch as well with as much handholding as I've needed to correct any issues. The price is certainly higher than most other hosts but I feel like I get a fair deal for as many tools and services that come with the platform. I would like to see Pantheon offer agency pricing for everyone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Pantheon dashboard is exceptionally user-friendly compared to other hosts. They have made backup creation, branch creation, merging of code, and migration of database and files as easy as I could see it ever being. The added value of Terminus and easy use of Lando for local development makes automating simple tasks or making batch edits to sites on a network a breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My main issues with Pantheon have been in migrating existing client sites from other hosts. The migration process itself is easy, but due to Pantheon's considerations and limitations of the network, many client sites come with plugins that assume write access or have other conflicts with the platform and either need work arounds or entirely new solutions. The innability to make changes to the server configuration is also a bit frustrating, but understandable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the workflow with Pantheon. The user interface is very straightforward and easy to use for both developers and clients. There is great user support documentation that helps and their customer service is great for answering questions timely. The multi-dev environments make it great to do continuous work on. The fact that the live environment is locked from direct changes is also nice for staying up to date with code where clients also maintain their site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pantheon can be an expensive platform to use, but it comes with many good security benefits for the price. It may not be the best option for smaller businesses or websites because of the hosting costs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the DevOps tools and the Documentation feature. It teaches you how to get into the nuts & bolts of web development.
If you're an enterprise-level org and you want to treat your WebDev to a good time, get Pantheon.
The free sandbox is great for drafting sites and learning how to manage them.
When you learn how the DevOps tools work, you realize how powerful the platform can be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The pricing.
We have been bumped up to a ridiculously expensive tier because of our site traffic even though we're a small organization. Extremely difficult to justify the cost come budget season.
The support.
It's a lot like a therapist. They will walk you through the process of solving your issue instead of... solving it. They're pretty hands-off on helping you get your site up after your code goes out of date. When you have analytical folks breathing down your neck due to a 504 error on a page, you need a fix, not a tutorial.
The (lack of) Onboarding
I've never used New Relic before. So imagine my confusion when trying to figure out if my site has any PHP issues. What's a Redis? Let's google/check the documentation on this instead of working.
Mission/Scope Creep.
Pantheon was marketed to us by our site-builder and it looked like we were in a perfect tier with the right features. With time, that niche got consumed into the enterprise ("Organization") tier and many of the features I anticipated got subsumed into a premium service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The websites are deployed with such a mechanism that there is auto scalability ensured every time. Our websites remain functional throughout the year and thus never go down. The server environments are pretty good and report us with the server load and other details required so that the quality of service is never compromised. The customer care executives are charming people who assist us with the required features and help us going through the documentation to ensure a variety of features with each update and better web design. Pantheon takes good care of query algorithms, and everything seems smooth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The servers are quite costly even though there isn't colossal traffic to handle most of the year. Other than this, everything is fine till now, and we hope we get better pricing plans to maintain the quality of the website while we don't incur high expenses. The best part lies in the continuous feedback system inbuilt in the software during all stages of website testing and deployment. It helps in a drastic change of your website by suggesting the latest web designs and integrating well with the existing pipeline resources. Further, the testing part is beautifully carved into the software as there are plenty of testing algorithms that work with expected results before deploying the changes into the final website. Not to forget the consistent customer support who help us day in and out manage the website well during peak season—a great product in conclusion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think the price is something way more than expected which I feel should be the common ground of disappointment for every customer. The features are really good but somewhat over priced, which is why I couldn't give it a 10. But no other disappointments for this product honeslty as it works like a charm. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best part lies in the overall support of this product. It's difficult for companies to switch between development environments because of the tedious staging process that comes with updating the website. However, these things are taken good care of by this product, as it provides a mini-documentation in the dashboard itself and the walk through guide is really helpful. I would also like to point the helpful nature of the cusomter support, who encourage us timely to reap the actual benefits of the latest staging features and efficient server overload management. We optimize the website on a monthly basis and the software even helps provide better security to the database and other important credentials. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Cost is one factor which is somewhat high for this product. Secondly, the official documentation is a bit difficult to understand especially when we are lost exploring the GUI and cannot customize anything on our own. It demands a good amount of patience on both our and the support side in the initial days. I hope they come soon with dedicated help pages for some features as that would be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pantheon is quite an essential tool for a growing and closed community like ours, where we are trying to switch between technologies rapidly to ensure competitiveness throughout the sectors. It is one of the best SaaS providers, where a multi-development environment is supported for efficient teamwork. The automatic backups that happen periodically are such a boon! The customer support is quite helpful and helps a lot in the initial phase of integration with the existing coding environment and cloud restoration. The servers are pretty promising and work like a charm during product launches. One of the best staging environments and world-class service! Truly a gem in its domain Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There's no limit on price discounts we feel are adequate for the tool XD. The price is a bit on the higher side, especially for mid-level companies like ours. There are cheaper hosting environment options available in the market, but the staging and integration parts of the shifting process are difficult to neglect. So all in all, nothing much to dislike here except the price and indeed, there will be better discounts with more years of usage as promised by the customer support, so fingers crossed! Pantheon is being used in our organization for hosting. Many people in our organization use Pantheon as a modern end-to-end hosting solution provider to make sure they automatically update their feed and improve their online presence. It offers significantly enhanced effciency and guarantees excellent uptime. Source are update automatically. It also provides good performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It seems to be a lack the available documentation, and also newbies are facing diffculties to learn the system and process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love so many things; it's impossible to list just one: "multidev" environments, git, SFTP, new relic, automated back-ups, easy support, great docs, clear process flow for dev -> test -> production. I could go on. :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I want more "multidev" sites so I can have playgrounds for more clients (both company internal and external). Fine, I guess ten is enough, but they're super cool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pantheon makes the WordPress work both for me and my clients. I can easily manage core code across multiple clients as well as automate theme and plugin updates with AutoPilot. Git-based code and security of multiple dev environments, a testing environment, and a live deployed version complete with built-in CDN. performance is top notch, support very responsive, and serious uptime. It makes me look like a superhero. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pantheon isn't the cheapest option out there, but I'm sold on the extra value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We were fortunate enough to have world-class technical guidance on scaling our Drupal sites for performance and future version upgrades. Commandline-based tools were also extremely helpful in streamlining our workflow. The deployment workflow is very streamlined allowing for commandline based tools. We also took advantage of their Advanced Global CDN offerring and was able to significantly optimize the speed index our site. Pantheon continues to build new tools to improve the WebOps experience and we always look forward to the next tool in their pipeline. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We would love to see more detailed video tutorials on leveraging their Build Tools command-line plugin to build a Drupal site locally and have GitHub, Circle CI, and Pantheon integration seamlessly set up, all within a few steps. We would also like to see more tools to streamline the migration between Drupal versions such as going from Drupal 8 to Drupal 9. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The platform is setup in a way that just makes sense; it's easy to use and simply works right the first time. The documentation and support are second to none. And the training is top-notch! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The pricing can be hard to sell to lower-end clients, and not everyone understands what hosting is and why hosting companies differ so greatly in price Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pantheon has one of the few WordPress SaaS offerings. The best features are multi-dev support, integrated git handling, backups, and taking the maintenance out of the picture from managing a typical WordPress site. Their customer service is responsive; we've encountered no downtime thus far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pantheon user access levels can be problematic. If you are an agency, having a customer specify the billing. The system will want you to transfer the account, thus changing the billing practices. You can get around this by working with customer service. As a developer, the second aspect is the ability to utilize a 3rd party git hosting would be ideal such as the use of GitHub vs. their internal system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly the best part about Pantheon for me are the server speeds! They are so fast that all my web content loads at lightning fast speeds. I am a graphic designer so I want to present my work in the highest quality possible with no load times. Pantheon makes this possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can't think of anything. Everything works pretty good for what I need it for Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Our websites never go down. EVER. We've been with Pantheon for over a year. We host 150 websites, and they NEVER GO DOWN. This is amazing because we've worked with InMotion Hosting and other standard cPanel, dedicated server environments in the past, and we always had issues. We don't have a "developer" on our team, so we looked for a hosting solution that would provide us with hands-off "development." We're able to design on Wordpress and leave the tricky stuff up to Pantheon. Because Pantheon is set up in a dev, test, live environment, code changes can never be made to the live site. Gamechanger for our team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We're not able to pay with a credit card automatically. Instead, we have to reach out to get a unique payment link for a direct wire transfer. We've set up arrangements to pay twice a year, so it's not that big of an issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The support, documentation, and tools are all geared towards developers and technical users. Drupal hosting and maintenance is absolutely wonderful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The user roles and permissions are not as granular as I would like. You can't grant specific usage or permission for specific sites within your organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We decided to go with Pantheon over a few other managed WordPress hosting providers due to great reviews from our agency partner. We switched from AWS to a managed service because we didn't want the stress of server maintenance and optimization. Pantheon does it all.
We love the pre-made dev and test environments. And the managed updates service is just one less thing to worry about. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Price was a big punch in the stomach for us. We expected a higher cost, but as a mid-size non-profit, the annual fee for hosting was high enough that it caused some co-workers to start Googling other options, of course, without context. We're hoping that we'll be able to see a payoff due to less resource time spent on server optmizations and updates, and less time spent on core and module updates. We're still not sure yet how to quantify the speed increase that we've seen by switching to Pantheon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The customer support is prompt, clear, and patient. Their documentation is also crystal clear but sometimes a little too high-level for someone like me who is new to dev. When that is the case, I'm always able to get someone to walk me through the steps within five minutes of launching the chat. I could not have completed my latest project without it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For someone like me who is new to dev, I think it is a little bit TOO clean. It would be nice for there to be a little bit of help text with each of the buttons, etc. But I do enjoy how clean the interface is and I imagine that for someone with more experience, that this uncluttered UX is heavenly! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pantheon's chat support is quick to respond whenever there are issues, and they are very knowledgeable about their platform, as well as general Drupal and WordPress issues that come up from time to time. We have a representative helping us get all of our client sites moved over to the new Advanced Global CDN. He's been very helpful with organizing the sites and letting us know what steps we need to take, as well as helping us out with the reporting dashboard. I feel like our account representative is receptive to any concerns we have and they work with us to come to a solution that's beneficial for everyone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are a few platform considerations you have to account for when choosing to host on Pantheon that can make things a little complicated, but we've found workarounds for almost everything. The biggest concern I have currently is the outdated Solr server version available on the platform, but I know that they are actively working on a solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My favorite feature of Pantheon is the Multidev environments and the fact that we can easily create one from a Git branch. It allows us to iterate on new features while leaving the main branch free for continued updates and patches.
While our database is gigantic and can take a while to import into the new branch, having the ability to do our "cutting edge" work is such a relief. It lets me utilize an isolated environment, so I'm not worried about whether we'll have to undo database changes or create other conflicts when working on a feature that requires review and sign-off from stakeholders.
Our ability to scale up to more virtual hardware has played a huge part in allowing us to handle traffic events.
In addition, their support team is always very responsive, and has been like an added team member when things go wrong that we don't have control over. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If I had to nitpick one thing about Pantheon, it would be the occasional failure of upstream merges to fail without much of an explanation other than "an error occurred." I love our ability to apply core updates automatically when Drupal is updated in the Upstream repo, but every now and then, we still need to merge manually.
It would also be better if we could spin up additional hardware ourselves, or if the application containers scaled up automatically somehow, rather than requiring us to submit a Support ticket - something I wasn't aware that we needed to do in order to add more capacity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They provide excellent documentation. We transferred a lot of sites to the pantheon, and the performance is excellent. Their dashboards and the isolation between dev, test, and production environments let us stage changes for public, client review. Then once the clint approves the changes, it's only one click to deploy. It's also one-click for most drupal core upgrades. And also, their customer support is ultimate! Always there and helpful even at 7 in the am. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As of now I didnt find any thing to dislike about this tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Everything: truly ubiquitous ability, power, accessibility, and support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike that my competition has full access to all of these components, capabilities, and resources; but, I guess that is the core of open-source. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
