Our Advisors

As of March 2017, Anders is chairman of the Governing Board of EIT Climate-KIC. Anders has served as a Member of the European Parliament and the Swedish Parliament, as Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Policy Director of UNDP.  He was Co-President of the Club of Rome between 2012 and 2018, is chairman of the Swedish Association of Recycling Industries, and member of the Board of the Swedish Development Authority (SIDA).

Anders is an honorary doctor at Linköping University (2011).

Dr. Anneli Pauli is currently a Professor of Practice (Global Grand Challenges) at the University of Helsinki, the Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research. She previously worked in the European Commission (Deputy Director-General at DG ‘Research and Innovation’ and in the Joint Research Centre, and as a Senior Advisor to the Director-General at DG Climate Action). At the Academy of Finland (the Finnish Research Council organisation) she held positions as Vice-President and as the Secretary-General. She has also worked as President of the Technical University of Lappeenranta.

Catia Bastioli is a chemist, a researcher and an entrepreneur. She has led the Novamont Group since 1996, an industrial reality leader in the development and production of bioplastics and biochemicals from renewable origin. Since 2009 she has been President of the Kyoto Club Association, of Terna Spa and of the Italian Cluster of Green Chemistry SPRING. She is also a member of EU working groups on climate change and the environment, such as the Mission Board on Soil Health and Food.

Dennis Pamlin is an entrepreneur, strategic advisor and the founder of 21st Century Frontiers.  He is a senior associate at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, visiting fellow at the Research Centre of Journalism and Social Development at Renmin University, advisor for the Centre for Sustainable Development at the Confederation of Indian Industries, Principal Advisor at Companies for a Half-Earth Future and Senior Advisor at RISE. He is leading the Net-Zero Compatible Innovation Initiative.

Dr. Harini Nagendra is a professor of Sustainability at Azim Premji University, India. She coordinates a combined programme of research, teaching, practice and outreach focused on addressing wicked systemic challenges of climate change and sustainability from the global South context. She is on the Steering Committee of the Future Earth Urban Knowledge Action Network, and the Programme for Ecosystem Change and Society.

Julian Popov is a Fellow of the European Climate Foundation, Chairman of the Building Performance Institute Europe and Former Minister of Environment of Bulgaria. He was the good will Bulgarian Ambassador for energy and climate policy and energy security adviser to the President of Bulgaria. Julian is the founding Vice-Chancellor and current Board Member of the New Bulgarian University and co-founder of the Tunisian School of Politics.

Mafalda Duarte is leading the strategic and policy efforts of Climate Investment Funds to take the tried and tested model to the next level, including through new mechanisms to mobilize finance from capital markets. Under her leadership the $8.3 billion Climate Investment Funds have been directed toward innovative pilot approaches and a focus on learning, sharing of knowledge and technical expertise. Previously she managed climate-related portfolios at the African Development Bank and the World Bank.

Pablo Bereciartua is currently the Vice-President of the Argentine Engineering Center. He is the former Secretary of state for Infrastructure and Water Policy of Argentina, Undersecretary of Water Resources of Argentina and Director of Infrastructure of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires. He is a Professor at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and former Dean at the Buenos Aires Institute of Technology (ITBA). Pablo has recently become President of the Argentine Engineering Center.

Sandrine Dixson-Declève is the Co-President of the Club of Rome, the co-founder of the Women Enablers Change Agent Network (WECAN), and the co-founder and first Executive Director of the Green Growth Platform, bringing together EU Ministers and CEO’s. She holds several advisory positions within the European Commission, including Chair of DG R&I Think Tank ESIR (Economic and Societal Implications of Research and Innovation.

Seán Cleary is Chairman of Strategic Concepts (Pty) Ltd, Executive Vice-Chair of the FutureWorld Foundation, Managing Director of the Centre for Advanced Governance, Advisory Council member of the World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid, Para Limes, and IAS Köszeg, Executive Consultant to the Office of the Prime Minister in the United Arab Emirates, and a Director of Companies. He is on the Faculty of the Parmenides Foundation.

Tomas Kåberger serves as the founding Executive Board Chairman of the Renewable Energy Institute based in Tokyo, and as the Industrial Growth Executive of InnoEnergy. Academically he is Affiliate Professor of Renewable Energy at Chalmers University of Technology. He was elected by the Swedish government to serve on the Board of Vattenfall AB, and on the Swedish Climate Policy Council. Previously he was Director-General of the Swedish National Energy Agency.
