Potomac Kitchen and Bath just finished our kitchen remodel and I am extremely happy with the result. It was completed within three weeks and the quality was top notch! We have used United Capital Construction 3 times over the last 3 years. Each time they have done high-quality workmanship, on-time, and at a fair price. As a project manager myself, they plan well and improve on my ideas. Daniel, the owner, is responsive and takes interest in ensuring the quality of his work. Our first experience was renovation of 2 bathrooms - one a conversion of a storage room into a fully functioning bathroom and shower. We were impressed with the quality. Then we made a mistake by hiring another company 2 years later for our owner's bathroom. The company could not finish the job and so we called UCC to finish the job. Daniel promptly assessed what needed to be done and what needed to be corrected. The result was again excellent. Over the last 2 weeks (May 5 - 21, 2021) UCC did a final upgrade in preparation for selling our house. This included full interior painting and drywall repair, refinishing main level floors and carpet replacement in other areas. The whole house sparkles and our first offer was above asking price.

We are thrilled with the work the whole team did in our dream bath, laundry and closet. They did a fantastic job with our bath. Chuck, the owner was Meticulous with every detail and even had some things redone because it didnâ t meet his approval. He knew what looked great and what looked average. He wasnâ t doing average. He was all about Great work not average work. It was important to him to have clean lines throughout the entire space. I really couldnâ t â seeâ why he had some things redone until I saw the end result. I didnâ t have that knowledge but he certainly did! I canâ t say enough what great hands we were in during the whole process. Our addition is a show stopper.!

My main water supply pipe had burst so I called multiple companies. Faruk was the first to respond and show up on a weekend to inspect the damage and provide an estimate.
Things I like about this company:
1. They were extremely responsive to my needs and questions
2. They honored their estimate even though there were a couple of unforeseen obstacles which increased the length of the project and possibly the cost to them
3. They negotiated the estimate lowering it considering my situation
4. They took care of all permits and inspections
5. They cleaned up after the project was done to the best of their abilities
6. They were upfront and honest about the damage to my lawn due to excavations
7. They were very courteous and professional
Things they could improve:
1. The project took a little longer than anticipated. A lot of their work was manual which could have been fast tracked with the use of machinary i.e. digging etc.
2. We replaced the entire main pipe assuming that it was defective/polybutelene pipe since it was underground and flooded. We layer found out it was not the case but they proceeded anyway rather than fixing the broken length. While I think it was probably the safest choice it may not have been necessary and they never brought it up later.

We recommend United Residential Builders with 5-stars! Their professionalism, creative design and quality of work were outstanding. Our project included a complete kitchen remodel, hardwood floors throughout the first floor and a basement buildout including bedroom, kitchenette, rec room and bathroom. A major part of the kitchen remodel was the demolition of a 80s style brick cooktop/stove area and inserting a significant/primary LVL beam to provide an open-concept kitchen with an island. The open kitchen is beautiful!!! Being an engineer I was concerned about the significant structure change to the core of the house. But the owner of URB, Aiman, did an outstanding job of explaining and designing the support structure. I felt very comfortable with his knowledge and experience. Aiman was extremely helpful in the design of the project and provided ideas, options and tradeoffs. Aiman (the owner) and Mo (the PM) were on-site often to ensure quality and customer satisfaction. They were flexible in last-minute changes that I requested and the outcomes were fantastic. They were able to complete the project just before my daughters college graduation party and the guests were impressed. Eventhough the project took longer than expected and some additional costs were incurred due to the original house condition, overall it was a great experience with United Residential Builders and I would recommend them with high marks!

Gibb Development is hands down the best contractor I have ever worked with. Barry, the owner is amazing at what he does. He's done well over 2500 basements in Loudoun. He's been doing this so long that the inspectors turn to him for advice and know him by name. And here's the thing. He's at the point of his career where this is basically a hobby for him to keep busy. What does that mean to you. You have someone doing their job, that LOVES their job. They don't compromise on quality. And won't accept an employee that doesn't see it the same way. It's a do it right, or don't do it mentality. No shortcuts.
Also, he knows what adds value to your home and what doesn't. And he'll tell you so. You may want to do something. And he'll do it. But he'll also tell you that you're wasting your money. He knows what will show up in your appraisal and what won't. And what adds value and what doesn't
Here's another thing. He's not going to ask you your budget. Why? It isn't relevant. He'll tell you the price it's going to cost for what you want done. Huge difference. How many contractors ask your budget up front and then try to cut corners or hit you with some hidden cost half way through? Not Gibb Development. You want this done, this is what it costs. We screw something up in the middle, that's on us, not you. What you can afford should have nothing to do with what it costs to get done.
And he's efficient. My job from start to finish. About 900 sq foot basement including a full bath took 4 weeks with inspections. Which is another red flag. Never hire a contractor that either says you don't need inspections or wants you to pull the permits.
Last and maybe most important, Barry the owner is human. He loves to talk and seems to genuine enjoy meeting new people. He respects all people and all views. He has his own, but he loves to hear what you have to say about anything and isn't judgmental. Very rare indeed. And I didn't even know this guy a couple months ago. Now he seems like an old friend.

These guys are exceptional. A little pricey, but that's not unusual for this area. My favorite part is the owners are AMAZING - very attentive, quickly respond to emails, very accommodating, and routinely show up to check out the job and progress (which was RARE in my past experiences with other companies). I highly recommend these guys. They did two bathrooms and even laid hard wood floor in our master bedroom for us! Hope to use them again.
