This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Global rename for NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh

Not ending before 13 October 2021 06:29 UTC

Hello. Since both Vietnamese-speaking global renamers (Alphama and Trần Nguyễn Minh Huy) are having their Wikibreak and that vi:Wikipedia:Đổi tên người dùng is full of pending requests, I would like to request for global rename flag. I have fully read and understand the relevant policies. My languages are vi-n and en-3. Unnamed UserName me 06:29, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[]

  • Question Question: For non sysop users, my usual question will be: What experiences you have with renaming, I seen you transfer some request from the local page to SRUC recently, but then it is quite recent. Do you have some long term experiences. In addition, if one of the vi renamers will to endorse you this will make the support easy. Thanks for volunteering anyway. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 08:16, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[]
Since my account was created about 6 months ago, I can't say that I have long-term experiences. My very first edit at vi:WP:DTND was made on May 27. Normally, Alphama will reply as soon as possible, and being a native Vietnamese himself he doesn't need a clerk. However, recently, he was quite busy, and I voluntarily took care of those requests (I read the renaming policies a long time before that due to curiosity). Unnamed UserName me 15:30, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[]
I see. Alphama I had seen cleared those. I am just a little uneasy to grant such sensitive rights to a 5 month old account however, so Neutral Neutral but thank you for volunteering. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:16, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[]
  • Support Support Easy support. He is a very quick learner and versatile contributor of Vi Wikipedia, contributing in many areas such as templates, bot, AfD, discussions, many high quality articles and so on. Plus, there is a void that needs to be filled (Alphama & Minh Huy are off for quite some time). Nguyentrongphu (talk) 08:37, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[]
  • Support Support P.T.Đ (talk) 09:02, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[]
  • Neutral Neutral while OP does have a good reason to request the right, I am a little concerned about the following:
  1. While the two renamers are on a wikibreak, wikibreak ≠ retired.
  2. The OP isn't a sysop on any WMF project.
But apart from that, I don't have any issues. --SHB2000 (talk | contibs) 09:32, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[]

The minimum requirement to run for eliminator in Vi Wikipedia is 6 months old account (1 year old for sysop). The issue here isn't about trust. Clearly, he got support (trust) from multiple local sysops and even a crat (ThiênĐế). Nguyentrongphu (talk) 09:06, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[]
This requirement might be quite related to trustworthiness. ~~~~

User:1234qwer1234qwer4 Sure, they're related, but account's age does not define trustworthiness. There are members who have been around forever and are not trustworthy. Competence is paramount in my opinion. Nguyentrongphu (talk) 03:29, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[]
  • Sorry, while I believe the intention is good, I cannot support someone who is not a sysop on any WMF project. Hence, Neutral Neutral for now. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 07:07, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[]
  • Neutral Neutral I was busy in the last 3 weeks and be back recently. I may continue to be busy due to my works. I know this candidate, he has the potential abilities to be a future admin in our project. Furthermore, I also raise my concerns to the account with 5 months old. Since a global renamer usually needs experiences, I am also not easy to offer this. However, I believe he will take this right soon, the thing left is just time. • BA candidate.svg Weak oppose In my opinion, global rename is more significant than regular adminship -- that's also shown by the 80% support required in the policy. That's because renamers do work that takes effect everywhere, at all projects, as one of the very few user groups. I think global renamers should have sysop experience at their home wiki. Global rename for NhacNy2412

Not ending before 15 October 2021 10:52 UTC

In the same way as NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh indicated above, two global renamers who know Vietnamese are presently both very busy, Vietnamese Wikipedia requires volunteers to help with backlog requests as well as new requests. I've been on Wiki for over two years and have some familiarity with it. Although I'm not a sysop, I've been an eliminator of Vietnamese Wikipedia since January of this year and am quite aware of the rules and tools. I think this tool will not be too difficult for me. Thank you. ༒ Nhac Ny ༒ Talk to me ♥ 10:52, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[]

  • Question Question: Thank you for volunteering, can I ask what you mean by " I think this tool will not be too difficult for me." Are you confident to use the rename tool well? Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 12:49, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[]
@Camouflaged Mirage I simply want to be humble for a moment. Of course, I am confident enough to stand for election. Anyway, because my major is constantly exposed to new tools, I'm no stranger to them. Thanks for the question. ༒ Nhac Ny ༒ Talk to me ♥ 12:58, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[]
@NhacNy2412 I mean what experiences you have with renaming. Pardon me but this is my usual question to non-admin candidates. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 13:01, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[]
@Camouflaged Mirage Sorry for not understanding your question. Although I am rarely engaged to the page vi:Wikipedia:Đổi tên người dùng, I do keep a close eye on this site and how Alphama handled the requests. Furthermore, I remind members whose names are in violation on a frequent basis that they must alter their names or report the infraction to an administrator if the violation persists (of course I have read and understood the relevant regulations). ༒ Nhac Ny ༒ Talk to me ♥ 13:10, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[]
Thank you. I see no reason to oppose and since eliminator is some position of trust and they seem to know somewhat about renaming, I will Support Support for now. Another vi renamer surely will help somehow, please use the tool carefully and I really hope you will stay active. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 13:14, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[]
Thanks for your trust. I will always try to stay active like now. ༒ Nhac Ny ༒ Talk to me ♥ 13:22, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[]
  • Support Support per discussion above, and as I said in my comment at #Global rename for Ulubatli Hasan above, I think that the eliminator toolset is a sufficient sign of trust. ~~~~

  • Support Support I trust this user. Nguyentrongphu (talk) 04:09, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[]
  • Support Support unlike with Ulubatli Hasan who I had to oppose even though they were an eliminator, NhacNy2412 seems to have more cross wiki experience, unlike Ulubatli Hasan. And even though viwiki's eliminator group doesn't allow for blocking, that doesn't mean that they're not trusted. SHB2000 (talk | contibs) 23:42, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[]
  • Support Support As a global renamer in the same project (viwki), I endorse this candidate. She has joined Wikipedia more than 2 years and earn a lot of experience, especially as the role of an eliminator. Alphama (talk) 08:12, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[]
  • Support Support 2 years has given her a lot of experience, I think this member is trusted enough to hold this permission. Good luck Mạnh An (talk) 13:56, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[]

Global rename for Vincent Vega

Not ending before 19 October 2021 15:21 UTC’'

Dear Wikimedians. I am Vincent Vega (former Chansey) from Trwiki. I am a local sysop and info-tr VRT volunteer. I am native Turkish speaker and en-3. According to list today we have 3 Turkish speaker (tr-N, tr-4 and tr-1) and I would like to assist them.

I am 7 y.o. in Wikimedia project, I contributed projects especially after 2016. When I create times from trwiki, I am trying to work crosswiki.

I am aware that lots of blockings happen in trwiki for inappropriate username selection, I would like to assist them and complete “block-rename-unblock” cycle myself, especially for Turkish spoken users. I believe I can handle and I have enough knowledge about Wikimedia renaming policy.

This is my second request, you can access first one (withdrawed) via this link. I am still standing behind my words.

Regards. Vincent Vega (talk) 15:21, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[]

  • Question Question: I'm a little confused how global rename helps you in x-wiki stuff. Can you explain what When I create times from trwiki, I am trying to work crosswiki. means? Thanks! SHB2000 (talk | contibs) 21:06, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[]
I should have written more clearly. This is my fault SHB2000 sorry. There is no correlation between my x-wiki contributions and GR things. I meant "I usually contributing in my home wiki especially on sysop works, when I find free time I work x-wiki". I know for GR requests x-wiki works are valuable. I only mentioned that. Nothing more. Thanks for giving chance to explain. Vincent Vega (talk) 21:57, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[]
Otherwise, I see no issues so Support Support. SHB2000 (talk | contibs) 22:31, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[]
  • Support Support Impressed with the tenacity to try to RFA 4 times and passed. I think most of the concerns with regard to the 1st application is resolved, and I do think tr needs more renamers due to their username policies. Anyway meets my usual criterion that an active large / medium wiki sysop that is good standing should be automatically granted this tool if it aid in their work. Thanks for volunteering. Global IP block exempt for DarkMatterMan4500

I can't edit on English Wikipedia as I was apparently affected by an IP block. Is there anyway that this could work so I won't have to be affected by this anymore? --DarkMatterMan4500 (talk) (contribs) 22:24, 5 October 2021 (UTC)[]

Global IPBE only works for global blocks. If you are affected by a local block, you need to apply for IPBE there. If it's a global block, please explain the nature of the block. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 00:57, 6 October 2021 (UTC)[]
