U.S. Passport Application Status

As of October 8, routine service will take up to 14 weeks and expedited service will take up to 10 weeks. These door-to-door times include both processing times and mailing times on the front and back end. You will continue to see our older processing times listed until we complete technical upgrades to our online system by October 20.

Before you may enter your personal information to get a passport application status check, you must review the Department of State's Privacy and Computer Fraud and Abuse Acts Notices and Disclaimers.

Special Issuance Passports

This tool does not reflect the correct status or delivery information for applications processed at the Special Issuance Agency, including applications for:

Diplomatic passports
Official passports
Service passports
No-fee regular passports
Regular Fee passports issued by SIA

To check the status of a special issuance passport application, you may either contact your federal travel office or refer to the SIA status check instructions from an official U.S. government internet connection.
