New GlotPress meetings

In the last months, there has not been a meeting to talk about GlotPressGlotPress GlotPress is the translation management software that powers Translate.WordPress.org. More information is available at glotpress.org..

In August, I have started working at Automattic to improve internationalizationInternationalization Internationalization (sometimes shortened to I18N , meaning “I - eighteen letters -N”) is the process of planning and implementing products and services so that they can easily be adapted to specific local languages and cultures, a process called localization. This is the process of making software translatable. Information about Internationalization for developers can be found in the Developer’s handbooks., localizationLocalization Localization (sometimes shortened to "l10n") is the process of adapting a product or service to a particular language, culture, and desired local "look-and-feel.", and GlotPress functionalities at translate.wordpress.org, in order to have the WordPress ecosystem translated into more languages, with more translated elements, and with better quality.

And, in order to improve, the best thing I can do is to talk with the members of the translation community, so that we can discuss the needs the translation community has and prioritize their development.

Therefore, what I want to propose is a biweekly meeting, in the #glotpress channel of “Making WordPress” Slack. The first meeting will be on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 07:00 UTC. I hope to see you all there with fresh ideas.

Hi, there.

I have submitted my Korean translation on “Projects / Plugins / User Registration – Custom Registration Form, Login Form And User Profile For WordPress / Stable (latest release) / Korean” (Link: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/user-registration/stable/ko/default/) which I started to localize them into Korean about a week ago, because I found some text strings of Login and Register pages related cannot be translated due to no relevant strings can be found from Loco Translate plugin – WP core and theme I purchased either, and then somehow I found the matched strings from the Translate WordPress link above through my research with google and others. (actually, I only need some strings from there, but I did translate all of them anyway.^^)

Anyway, the Korean translated 1,004 stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. that I submitted are still in “waiting” at the moment, and I’m just wondering,
1) how long does it take to be reviewed and approved usually? can I be the one if it’s possible?
2) Once they got approved, are they going to be implemented on WP coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. immediately or will be included next update of WP core set?
3) or are there any ways that I could implement certain translated strings only that I need via download them as .po file and put the .po file into a relevant directory manually?

FYI. I’m a WP noob, not a web designer or programmer either, and I started to use the WP only couple of months ago. So, please kindly provide me some help for this matter.

Thanks for your kind helps in advance. Thanks.
