    There is *no* power that is not *collective power*. For as long as we cont to believe that our power as a union resides in the hands of a small group of elected leaders & staffers, & for as long as we continue to defer to them as the sole source of action, we will cont to lose.

    EQAO is a bogus measure of literacy - purely a political tool to hammer staff and students and a BIG WASTE of taxpayer dollars and the precious learning time for students. It’s shallow political theatre —

    Our students should be assessed by their teachers, based on their achievement – *not* on their ability to perform well on a single standardized test.

    What? Imposing this on already stressed students, during a pandemic, is insane!! Tell me has chosen a better pedagogical approach that respects students’ current fragile mental health.

    Turns out school boards had the option to request an exemption from for this year from the Ministry of Education. It’s a shame the PDSB chose *not* to.

    Math: 30 million X 3 years of pandemic= 🍎smaller classes 🍎more support blocks for students who struggled with pandemic pivots 🍎more mental health supports Which 🤡🤡🤡s choose a test instead?!

    . standardized testing comes w a price tag of $30M+ *every year* – money that should be supporting students directly, not funding a test.

    I feel like this could have been the mountain every school board should have died on! You cannot advocate for children's mental health and decide to do EQAO.

    The same boy, now 11 & in Grade 6, has already made the decision to, once again, refuse to take part in the political farce that is . He’ll be at school, where he belongs, on those days – but he’ll spend his time on worthier pursuits.

    The results are in, & they’re great... Proud of my boy today, who, back in June, refused to be a child labourer in ’s cynical political machine.

    The Ministry of Education wants to run experimental digital tests this May & June for Grade 3 & 6 students learning in-person & online. This, to them, is a priority. Clearly, they don’t have their priorities straight.
