About WebDrive

Simple for the Novice, Powerful for the Pro. Access SharePoint and OneDrive within the applications you already use. Easily edit Adobe, text, and all versions of Office. Box, S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and more can be accessed right from your Windows Explorer or Mac Finder. WebDrive is the FTP client you already know how to use. Map FTP and SFTP servers as a drive letter for productivity and convenience. WebDrive is the WebDAV client with options to mount at startup and lock server files. It works the way the native Windows WebDAV redirector should work. Reduce installation and setup time for large implementations. Customize and push the settings out to all your users with no need to configure each PC. Improve security by accessing your remote files without syncing and filling your device with copies of your files—a major security risk if your device is lost or stolen.

    "Webdrive is a must have!"

    Posted 2021-04-25

    Pros: Easy to use.
Treat a remote FTP server as if it was a drive on your computer.
Open, edit and save remote files with ease.

Cons: None, that I can think of at this time, it's always performed perfectly.

Overall: I've been using WebDrive for years. It makes it so much easier to edit my websites' files by just opening them straight into my IDE instead of downloading, editing and then uploading back to my server.

I can't remember my website editing before WebDrive.

"New version is terrible (1.1.9), old version still is awesome."

    Edited 2021-04-22

Pros: Looks a bit better than previous versions, but originally the new version had less features until I complained.
WebDrive itself is an awesome concept, I can't live without it... but I'm using the older version.

Cons: Task tray icon on newer versions has lost its indication of upload/download. This I relied on extensively since the popup is very buggy again (stops working, I had 2 tickets for old version with same bug which was finally fixed in that!).
So new version now often means I have no idea of activity, so reverted back to 2019 version which I find better.

Overall: The launch of the most recent WebDrive I considered farcical and untested by serious users. I provided 6 points of missing features compared to the 2019 version, and to be fair you re-instated most of those.
But as I say, the 2019 version remains sold in that even the task tray icon lets me know I'm uploading.

One feature I've asked for numerous occasions but has always been ignored is that of an audible notification of upload... as a web developer I dream of something which can do this so I can refresh my web browser, I use WebDrive hourly, every day, looking at the tray icon to ensure it's uploaded. A simple beep would be more ideal.

So although WebDrive is my MOST USED software ever, I'm sticking with the 2019 version.

Rated 4 stars because the new version isn't as good as the old 2019 version.

    "Great WebDAV client"

    Posted 2021-04-22

Pros: It's a very simple yet powerful client. The ability to quickly connect from the icon in the notification area is nice!

Cons: Nothing now that the latest version doesn't require a system reboot after an installation/upgrade.

Overall: We went looking for a WebDAV client 10+ years ago and decided on using WebDrive. This application has worked very well for us.

    "All in one!"

    Posted 2021-04-22

Pros: Perfect, complete, easy to use product.
Very easy handling, many options, command line, stable product. All you may need is included. And if encounter issue or difficulty, support team is very professional and responsive.

Cons: it seams sometimes in some software mapped drive is not visible.

Overall: After a long research (needed some network security), and a short trial I chose this product without hesitation and really happy using it since one year now.

"WebDrive should be a stock program for a laptop"

    Edited 2021-04-22

Pros: My wife is a real estate broker. Her laptop is her full time travel companion and PC of choice for its mobility and convenience. However, our home PC is where our DATA storage drive is located. The problem with home networked DATA storage for laptops is you end up with data in multiple locations, duplicated and/or scattered across multiple PCs. For far too long, data files would be saved on her laptop while working with clients and then either never make it to the home DATA drive or copied over and the files aren’t synched if an update is made to a file at one location or the other. After searching for options, WebDrive has been our solution of choice for several years. I already had an FTP site setup where I can access my files from anywhere, but WebDrive is perfect for people who aren’t as “techy? and just need things to connect and work like you are on your home network. It starts and connects automatically as soon as her laptop has internet connectivity (WIFI or mobile hot spot). All files reside at one location and are backed up daily within my regular backup process for my home network. We continue to pay for the WebDrive service because it works and is extremely easy to use.

Cons: Remote data files are always at the mercy of the internet connection speed in which they are accessed. We have Gigabit Fiber (up & down) from Century Link at home and as long as your remote internet speed is reasonable, there is no lag in data transfers and editing.

Overall: Great program that makes your remote ftp files accessible from anywhere. Looks and feels like local network drives and works as advertised.

"Good way to sync non-traditionally storage"

    Posted 2021-04-22

Pros: I use it to create a drive for a site accessible to scp. I don't have a lot of tools available on the site so web drive allows me to sync to the site from my PC.

Cons: The site is not always available, so I always need to confirm when to sync.

Overall: Overall, I find the software easy to use, and after quite a bit of testing reliable. I use it to sync a fairly large document tree to my PC.

    "Best WebDAV Client"

    Posted 2021-04-22

    Pros: + Supports WebDAV connections
+ Quick connect menu in tray icon
+ Handles multiple simultaneous connections without overusing resources

Cons: - Sometimes requires clearing cache for a site multiple times to fix issues
    - Connection manager UI is cluttered and can be confusing
    - No feature to auto-pick/auto-map drive letters on connection (every connection must have a designated letter)

Overall: I use this strictly for WebDAV connections, and it is the best client I have found. It is not perfect, but many of my complaints are due, at least in part, to the WebDAV protocol, so they are not part of my review/rating.

    "Great tool in our toolbox"

    Posted 2021-04-22

Pros: Webdrive is providing an excellent solution to give us seamless offsite access to our central NAS data server. It is ticking all the boxes for us and is highly recommended. Everything is working as expected and we never experience any connection issues while utilizing the WebDrive solution.

Cons: There are really no cons we can mention with using this product.

Overall: It is a great solution and streamlined our internal and external data access requirements. Very satisfied with it.

    "Speeds web development"

    Edited 2021-04-22

Pros: Working on remote files as if they were local. Seamless integration with standard OS browse, open, and save functions. Supports lots of services and transfer protocols. Autoconnect on system startup.

Cons: Transfers sometimes seem slower than more traditional SFTP (but still faster than local save then upload).

Overall: Simply put, WebDrive is the easiest and most streamlined way for me to manage the web projects I work on every day. I've used it for -- wow, I don't know, but probably in excess of 15 years if I had to guess. Haven't found anything else that comes close to it for seamless interaction between my various editors and the web server.

"Rarely think about it, couldn't live without it"

    Posted 2019-12-11

Pros: 1. enables access to cloud and company servers as a network drive
    2. one interface to all my files, werever they are located
    3. set it and forget it

Started using Webdrive about 10-12 years ago to connect to company ftp server. I'm now at a company that uses Sharepoint, so I connect to that, but also to S3 and Onedrive. I probably use this software every day.

Cons: Upgraded to the new version for the first time in 5 years. There are now so many features and settings, that it can be a lot to navigate. Their support is really helpful though, so that was a plus.

Overall: I've had a positive experience with the product and support.
