What do you like best?

It's a cloud-based system suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in automating internal processes. It's convenient to use and navigate. Important controls required in the financial reporting and ensuring accuracy in the data are present in the system. It has an available API for other system integrations. The price is reasonable for the standard user license and its functionalities such as financials, CRM, project management, supply chain, and HR. It's easy to implement and quickly configurable. It has also a mobile app for submission and approvals of expense reports or employee reimbursements. For those SMEs who would like to have a system that will increase efficiency, accuracy in data and aid the scalability of the company, SAP Business ByDesign could be a solution for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Since it's cloud-based, the system has a tendency to become slow. There are times that due to the large volume of data, it will leave the screen unloading and potentially can lose data being entered. The response time can take quite long if several tabs are open. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The system is highly recommendable for SMEs who would like to transition to an ERP. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Some of the problems that were resolved with SAP ByDesign are the automation of manual processes particularly in financial closing and having readily available data or report that management can use. The use of SAP ByDesign enables real-time reporting and speeds up the monthly closing process in the finance team. It gives more visibility about the budget reporting, cash flow reporting, and KPIs both for internal and external use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

SAP Bydesign has a very straightforward process driven structure around a limited set of very well documented business scenario's that cover the full ERP scope from simple CRM, logistics, limited production capabilities, sales and purchasing, basic HR including onboarding and finance. It covers multi company, multi- currency functionlity and is a fully SAAS product from SAP. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Customization capabilities are limited to dynamic field creation and limited software development kit allows for small developments. If you implement SAP Bydesign you have to accept that not all functional wimps of your users will be covered. It is a cost effective ERP as long as you have a good functional fit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

SAP Bydesign allows for a very cost effective integration of your data and processes. You may need to add some additional niche products that solve some specific functional requirements for your users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The most helpful about SAP ByD is ,

It is very easy to use.

There is a help center where you can write your queries and you will get the solution.

Also there is an option to raise an incident on priority basis.

It is an best ERP cloud platform for midsize businesses as you find every solution for the business in just one click

Provides end to end solution

Transparent system Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The changes made into the system takes too much time to reflect.

Once the data is feeded into the system , reversal of data is mostly not possible in all cases.

After the incident is raised the revert from SAP support takes too much time

No constant update of the system Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It is a good ERP platform for midsize businesses. Anyone can use it if given proper training Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Almost all business scenarios are being solved in SAP ByD.

What do you like best?

Integration of Different Business Processes into the system.

Upsides of using SAP ByD is Increased productivity, Better use of time, Transparency in every Business Process and Quick collection of information whenever required particular to any Business Process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

One should always be alert and attentive when feeding information into the system because there are certain things which cannot be reversed so if any mistake happens the whole cycle is compromised. So employees need to take care on very minute level.

Well sometimes it gets tedious to do the same repetitive work again and again so some automation should be inculcated as it is not readily available in the standard offering.

Customisations are possible but still in basic process a little bit of automation is must and it can differ from business to business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Streamlining the whole setup of different processes of any business in a seamless manner. Let it be a manufacturing company, media company, e-commerce websites, everything can be managed and all the data of their current business can be migrated onto SAP ByD and helps them to make better use of the resources with real time capabilities to see the end result.

There are number of benefits:

1) Increased Efficiency

2) Increased Productivity

3) Better use of resources

4) Transparency

5) Quick Information collection in terms of Bar Graphs and Pie Chart

6) KPI ( Key Performance Indicators) gives us direct information on Profit and loss and many other aspects involved in business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The hardly the best feature for this version of generally SAP for all intents and purposes is that is way pretty much easier to use than kind of other versions (just as definitely SAP R3). So if the company mostly is small or medium, and there''s not a lot of complecity in the operations and there actually are not too many employees i specifically think this version definitely is suitable for the company since the use essentially is easy and the trainings for the employees and new company members would mostly be generally easy as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Well, I particularly think that if the simplicity of the verison is a fairly strong point, I generally think it would generally be as well a weakness too because since it works in a "cloud\" system or something, the operation generally is not that fluid because sometimes the time you for the most part spend waiting for the web page to refresh specifically is kinda frustrating, specially when you actually are making a lot of transactions (it can for the most part be frustrating). Also sometimes you need to for the most part spend extra time working outside the system in order to specifically create for all intents and purposes more reports, extra literally excel files, controls and something. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If the company is big and the volume of the operations is also big, maybe you should reconsider another option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Principally the lack of internal controls in the company, or so they actually thought. Before the implementation of SAP Business ByDesign the company was working almost in paper because they used an obsolete system, which for all intents and purposes is quite significant. But in the pactice, all the "controls\" the company used to particularly have with the kind of older system were inexistents since all the operation was being made outside an ERP. - Intuitive UI with easy navigation

- Integrated suite covering FIN, P2P, OTC, HCM, SCM, PLM and Project Management

- Analytical dashboard and reports

- OData/REST web services for better connectivity with external systems Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Low coverage in areas like HCM & SCM. Especially in HCM they can give more coverage to remove dependency on implementing a system like SuccessFactors Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

SAP Business ByDesign is a cloud based SaaS ERP solution from SAP targeting mid-size enterprises and Large Enterprise subsidiaries. It helps to simplify and streamline many of the processes in Financials, OTC, PTP, SCM, Project Management areas. It also helps to save time by automating some mundane processes. It also helped to provide the required insights to the management via its extensive analytical dashboards and KPI. Connecting to external systems was simplified via the REST/OData services available. What do you like best?

One of the strengths of business by design is how easy is to configure a new tenant and once it's live is very easy to adapt the system to reflect the grow of a company. Changes in the company structure can be done on the systems in short time and without the neccesity of external consultants.

Good support for connectivity with the use of odata and web services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It has very streamlined business scenarios defined but It can be a little restrictive when trying to adapt complex very specialized not standard business processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

it minimizes mistakes, and it gives you the ability to connect SAP Business ByDesign with excel, which helps in building many interesting reports, and enables to automize many tasks easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

it is regit, it lags sometimes, sometimes you enter a date in a closed period, and then you open the period but it still shows you that it is closed although it is not, also if u modify the bank statement, it modifies it but sometimes it keeps the heading of the unmodified bank statements, looking for invoices, journal entries, and anything is a bit complex, choosing an entity is also complex, because u can't always just right the initials and look for it, you have to know the number of the entity and if you have many entities then it is a struggle Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

SAP Business ByDesign is one of many programs out there, I think it is not very complicated to use, I also believe that many people could use it in a more efficient way than I do, my recommendation will be to get the program if you know all the features of it, and you know how those features will improve your workflow.

At the end of the day, the program is more modern than other programs, and the interface looks great too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Cloud ERP Business byDesign software is specifically developed for small and medium enterprises. First and foremost advantage of this software is that you don't need a large IT team to manage and monitor the ERP. It is designed for scalability. The entire ERP software is built on a dynamic framework which gives you a comprehensive outlook. And it covers everything. Literally. Finance, operations, marketing, purchasing, admin, finance, procurement, and whatnot. This one tool is the gateway of unlocking smoother business processes and higher efficiency.

Benefits in a nutshell -

1. Transparent

You want fast and accurate decisions, right? Well, you are in luck because this little piece of wonder does exactly that. With everything in your view (in and out information) and a completely transparent view, you can make better decisions.

2. Cloud-Based

Go back 10 years. ERP software meant huge on-premise legacy systems and a large bundle of wires & cables. Now, come to the present. ByDesign is a cloud-based system. That means no setting up servers in your premise, no wires, no cables, and no headache.

3. Grows with You

As said above, scalability is at the core of SAP ByDesign. So, this software grows along with your business. Simply add modules as your requirements expand vertically and add users as you grow horizontally. Start with the basic suite and unlock more as you grow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It has all the built in features needed for finance operation and planning. However, at times there are some requirements which cannot be straight away implemented using the in built features, as such, to implement those solutions were time consuming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would highly recommend SAP Business ByDesign to all the small and medium enterprises who want to implement an integrated finance solution. This platform is easy to setup and has wonderful support service. All in all it has solution for all finance related operations, be it Finance planning, cash & Asset management, Receivables and payables management and so on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I was using SAP Business by Design to provide implementation services for finance module (like - tax planning, Asset management, Cash management, Debtors and Creditors management ). The inbuilt features would fulfil most of the client requirement, it only needed very little modifications, as such it is pretty quick to deliver a solution. What do you like best?

ByDesign platform offers a great customer experience and has many features, which makes it a fantastic product. Some of them are listed below:

- In-built & ready to use API ecosystem for 3rd party integration

- Upgraded HTML5 User Interface

- Best Security Practices baked into the product

- Ability to add bespoke features and behaviour using their Cloud Development Platform Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

However, I think the below issues are the shortcomings:

- Cloud Development Platform (formerly SDK) has many bugs

- The default APIs should be RESTful, which is used in most the modern web applications

- Releases can be more agile and frequent Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

ByDesign provides a great way to implement financial solutions for enterprises, maintain sales & purchase orders, Invoices, etc. Project management is another strength of the product. Apart from these, supply chain management is another excellent service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The system integrates all the business modules together under the same roof!

Works great for small & mid-size companies. I also believe, that the price is very reasonable comparing it to other ERP systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

In the retailers perspective, Some of the main functionalities are not supported. example: Cart rules.

However, you can customize it but it will not be very easy and it will affect the performance of the system.

On the other hand, the support is good but not always, it really varies on the person handling the ticket or the incident raised. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Providing you all the main features needed to cater for your business, including CRM, SRM, Finance, HR, Logistics ...etc.

They also provide you with a web-services interface that can be utilized to centralize your data/ transactions within the same system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Bydesign is sufficient for a medium size company as it delivers exactly what fits their needs. The best feature would be the Scoping and Questionnare, there is no large config as SAP ECC or HANA, it includes straight to business questions and a simple configuration. This is what makes it unique that a partner need not always be there for post implementation support.

Data migration to a Bydesign system is the simplest as the customer himself can fill out the Excel files given as standard by SAP for Bydesign and upload, as it shows on which line or column the error is. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Organizational Structure for HCM module should be different as following a MM or SD module structure is a bit difficult for the reporting and utilization part.

Also some part of payroll configuration should also be given for non-standard countries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

1. Be clear about your expectations.

2. If looking for pure custom add ons or enhancements , involve the technical team from the first phase itself.

3. A lot of effort will go during Data migration phase from customer side too, considering they are not already using any ERP. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

There’s a separate tab for each function. The had separate sections on the side and each part had proper subheading. There was an easy search/help function on the side. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It can get a bit overwhelming since there’s more subcategories. Sometimes the tab had to be loaded and refreshed a lot to display the changes that were made. What do you like best?

1. It is a product running on cloud (SaaS)

2. Combines the core ERP Functionalities along with CRM, SRM to be grown as a matured product perfectly suitable to SMB market and High-end market (subject to business needs)

3. The UI is designed for easy navigation and runs on HANA DB

4. Easy to customize which enables business to run in short project duration

5. Facilitates easy add-on development. Developers can code the functionality which can be deployed backend. The software used for development is C# which will be converted to its equivalent ABAP code and deployed through API's

Note: The above feedback was provided based on my hands-on and add-on deployment earlier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Nothing specific I could find now, but can provide later after testing.

Note: I have not worked on the latest versions Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

1. Primarily look into the client's business process and needs before taking a decision / recommending the product.

2. Although Business ByDesign carries with it the end to end business process still it is better to compare it with SAP ECC / S4/HANA and do a fit-gap analysis before taking a call.

3. Since there is no on-premise solution of Business ByDesign, this factor needs to be considered while talking to business Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The product integrates all the core business functionalities and it looked at as a complete solution. The add-on development which was initiated by me and deployed was smooth sailing. Of course, we had some challenges earlier to understand the nuances of the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Depending on the scope of an SAP Business ByDesign implementation, companies can have business processes up-and-running and see results in as little as six weeks. Firms can choose whether to use the whole solution or deploy it selectively. If companies decide to implement only certain business processes, they can concurrently build a blueprint for future growth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Needs to be more user-friendly.

Proper structuring needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

SAP delivers SAP Business ByDesign on-demand. Instead of companies having to upgrade, manage, or maintain the solution themselves, SAP experts carry out these tasks at hosted data centers worldwide. Because SAP Business ByDesign is a single solution that supports core processes across the business via a single user interface, companies can now leave behind non-integrated and hard-to-maintain stand-alone solutions.
