    Hey was this update SUPPOSED to blow out our template and replace it with a stock, generic WP one? If so, that’s a real shame, as we spent HOURS on ours. Please let me know, and yep I used allcaps for emphasis, cause I’m super upset a plugin would over-ride our hard work

    Thanks!

    Here’s the code that told me this was so

    /* Generic WP styling */

    Yikes. Same thing happened to us. Doesn’t seem like an Automattic plugin to have this type of override problem. Is this just a bug or something supposed to happen? I didn’t see this in the changelog before I updated ๐Ÿ™

    Correct….

    Like WTH?

    Thanks for feedback and sorry that you ran into trouble when upgrading. It was a tough choice but we had to break a few things to set up a better future for the plugin.

    Of course, it would have been best not to make those breaking changes but since we couldn’t avoid it, we tried to minimize potential issues by including an easy-to-enable back-compat mode and noted them in the Upgrade Notice and on the Forums:

    Thanks for your response and details @batmoo! The Upgrade Notice said there were changes, but it was not very clear that things would break. Now we know ๐Ÿ˜‰

    We restored out template using the call you added. Thanks.

    We reverted to the old plugin’s theme and it worked fine for a while, but now all our sites are not being recognized by Google News as using AMP. So it’s time to upgrade everything to the latest AMP version.

    But I see some problems. We need to tweak the template and it seems like info posted at https://github.com/Automattic/amp-wp/blob/master/readme.md is not working or is counteracting the latest AMP plugin. So is this now old info in the Readme?

    For example, the nav.amp-wp-title-bar is not showing in the AMP template, the featured image is displayed twice when using the xyz_amp_add_featured_image, and some other issues.

    Is there a new location for the latest readme on tweaks and customizations?
