#26624 closed enhancement (wontfix)

Enhancement: Sidebars on backend should be fixed

Description

In 3.8 assigning a widget to a sidebar is not quite right. If you have long list of widgets you cannot scroll down and drag the widget on right inside the sidebars because its on very top.

The sidebars on right should have a fixed position, so that when you scroll down the sidebars scroll down with you.

imho, it should be like this for better UX:

That's why 3.8 has also the click-to-add feature for widgets. Have you already clicked on a widget?

I just saw that. dont you think the existing users will not find it easily. they would find it only by accident. Wouldn't it be better if there was a arrow button of each widget title's right? and when you click it the drop down button will appear..

What happens when the sidebar(s) are too tall for the viewport?

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

The widgets screen was replaced in 5.8 and the legacy widgets screen placed in maintenance mode. As this is an enhancement, I'm going to close the ticket off.
