Over the last 14+ years, I have worked with different technologies and languages. Most of my experience is either on the backend side with Ruby and Python, or on the infrastructure side with a variety of different tools, most recently with Kubernetes and Terraform.

After a detour into engineering management, I’m happy to be back on the individual contributor. While in engineering management I’ve especially enjoyed building up product development teams and defining a career development framework and am continuing to support people in their professional development

I consider myself both a generalist and a product-minded developer. Being product-minded means to me that I am somebody who is first and foremost interested in building a product that solves users’ needs, and only secondary to that interested in solving the technical challenges.

Other Experiences

Over the years I have made a few digressions into the world of mobile development with Android and iOS, both respectively in their Java and Objective-C days. While I probably would have to seriously brush up on the latest developments in this field, it gives me a holistic understanding of how a mobile product is engineered from the frontend, through the backend, to the infrastructure side.

Photography

In my private time, I work on my photographic practice. There, my work poetically explores themes such as presence and distance. Passionate storyteller, I favour working in projects, combining fragmented observations and carefully arranging them to form narratives. The chosen final medium for my photographic projects is in the printed form of a book or zine.
