"Costs $390 -- Bad Billing, Lucid Press will not resolve"
Posted 2021-05-04Pros: Hoped this would be a good alternative to Adobe InDesign. Nope. It had potential but a billing error has left me with a bad opinion of the company. Be careful with your money, Adobe is much better.
Cons: Charged me nearly $400 for a year of software, even after I cancelled my subscription. Did not send an invoice or receipt. Will not refund or resolve the issue.
Overall: I tried the software last April 2020. It was not as good as Adobe InDesign so I cancelled the subscription, but Lucidpress billed me anyway. The charge as 391 dollars for Teams-- apparently an upsell that they dangled in front of me to extend the trial period. The company seems to be more interested in duping people than providing a robust program. The charge was not confirmed via invoice or receipt. I discovered the details much later when preparing my taxes. Lucid Press refused to refund. I say, shame on Lucidpress.

Pros: Lucidpress’ online publishing platform has all the features I need for my quarterly newsletter. I especially like that it’s shareable so more than one person can write and edit directly onto the document simultaneously and in real time. Great to use while sharing on zoom! It saves changes automatically so it’s virtually impossible to lose edits. It’s easy to download and save versions to refer back to, and when it’s ready to print, I can save with crop marks to send directly to printers, or in optimized format for web publishing. It’s made pushing out regular and timely newsletters (not my main job!) just that much easier. Thank you, Lucidpress!
Cons: The learning curve was somewhat steep at first when my employer, UCI Health, decided to use this through one of our printing partners, but once I mastered the quirks in its text formatting and image handling, it was smooth sailing. It doesn’t handle directory listings in column format terribly well and it automatically resized text without my asking. Perhaps I need to figure out how to prevent this, but it was frustrating to say the least!
Overall: Overall it’s been the best system I’ve used for the reasons mentioned above in the pros. Compared to Adobe InDesign it’s more cost effective (we don’t pay for it but our print vendor does, so this might not be true?), takes up no memory on my PC, works just fine on a Mac, and it’s shareable in real time - what’s not to like?!

Pros: I love that I could create my layout in InDesign and upload it to the website and had a beautiful book in return. The site is easy to use. I read a round-up of reviews and Lucidpress was recommended. I have been extremely happy with my decision
Cons: I would lever a larger gutter in layout. This was not adjusted in the template that I had to upload the document to.
Overall: Overall my experience was outstanding and I would not hesitate to recommend Lucidpress to any of my friends or family or someone who was looking to self-publish.

Pros: I like the opportunity to have a free trial to see what Lucidpress was all about. After those 14 days, I could not purchase it fast enough. The ease of allowing people to create content without having to impact my coworkers was amazing.
Cons: I have yet to run into a con, anytime I have had any sort of issue (which haven't been many) the customer service has been there with every answer.
Overall: My overall experience has been a great one, I am not the most techy person, but I have been able to create fresh on brand content, build a stronger brand presence, all on my own.

Pros: I chose Lucidpress to facilitate the development of a quarterly newsletter for residents of our neighborhood association. This was a new idea that had to click right away. And, with your help and guidance, it did. I accessed several sources for a newsletter template but yours allowed me to custom design it without needing a design degree. Additionally, I appreciated the distribution options that were simple and understandable. Thank you.
Cons: It took me a while to feel comfortable with all the design levers and adjustments I could make but once I felt at ease, it worked well. I'd have appreciated a trial that lasted a bit longer so there would be no question that a membership was worth the cost.
Overall: Easy, convenient access, intuitive software, well-designed interface and overall value, made the decision to take out a membership an easy next step. I decided to give it a try. Worked great. You even offer guidance based on my schedule and needs.

Cons: I can't think of any cons at the moment...maybe more templates to choose from..? or special offers based on memebers ships or seasonal / limited edition themes?
Overall: I'm looking forward to continuing to create using this platform!

Pros: I love how easy the program is to use, particularly the collaboration piece. I was able to choose and set up a template and then share it so other could add important information.
Cons: Occasionally, the spacing on a document was difficult to manage.
Overall: A great way to set up branded documents for others in the organization to use. I love not having to create a document from scratch. I am an educator, not a graphic designer. Our district sets up the documents for us to use within our school and community.

Pros: A great alternative to Adobe InDesign!
Automatically saves work.
Inexpensive with flexible plans so I only buy it when I need it.
It it easy to share the final products with others.Cons: It can be difficult to move photos within a box.
Sometime my internet disconnects and I won't know until I try to save it that it isn't auto saving.Overall: I needed a program similar to InDesign for a few months to make flyers and photo books for my Grandma's funeral. This program was inexpensive, and I love being able to buy it only when I need it. Coming from a background of using InDesign, it was a really easy transition. I do wish it was easier to move photos within a preset box in a template, but overall it was a good experience. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a great program for a short time.
