In the General Settings, you can control the title, tagline, language, and more.

To change your site’s general settings, go to the General Settings page at My Site(s)→ Settings.

Changing your Site Title, Tagline and Site Icon

The first setting you will see is Site Title. The Site Title is displayed in the title bar of a web browser and is displayed in the header for most themes. Your Site Title will also appear in the following locations:

• My Sites on your WordPress.com dashboard
• The sender’s name when your followers receive notifications

Site title can be anything you’d like to describe your site. It doesn’t have to be the same as your site’s URL or your username. You can use a cleaned-up version of your URL (e.g., myawesomesite07 can become My Awesome Site), or change it to whatever best reflects your site’s personality and topic.

Note: Changing your site title does not change your site address or your domain.

The tagline is a short description or catchy phrase to describe what your site is about. Some themes will display the tagline in the header or in the sidebar.

The Site Icon is used as a browser and app icon for your site. It is the tiny image that you see next to the site title on the browser tab:

To change the site icon, upload a square image that is at least 512 × 512 pixels:

The Site address allows you to select a custom domain to use at your website. You can use a domain you already own (by connecting it), register a new domain or transfer a domain you already own to us. You can also create a Site Redirect.

Language

The Language option lets you select the language to use for some of the theme text shown to your site visitors. If you select an RTL language (for example, Hebrew), then the theme’s layout will mirror itself so that the text can be read properly from right to left.

Timezone

Your site’s timezone is set to Coordinated Universal Time, UTC by default, which is in London, UK. If you live in a different area of the world you will likely want to change this option. The current UTC time is listed to the right to make it easier to determine your timezone offset. As an example, when Daylight Saving Time is not going on, Boston, MA would be UTC-5. Privacy

The Privacy settings control who can and cannot view your site.

Footer Credit
