"Only remote desktop software you ever need"

    Posted 2020-05-26

Pros: This software gives me the ability to log-in to desktops remotely. Our organization is helped a lot due to the quick support that they provide and an active community at their respective site helps solve minor issues in a jiffy.

The app is cross-platform and is updated regularly to increase security and fix bugs.

Cons: The only con that I can think of is that the audio gets disconnected during live sessions and the only way to get that back is to re-connect. This is particularly inconvenient if you have some AV content playing on the remote.

Overall: Overall experience is a breeze. I definitely recommend others to try it. Its a heavy app but with the features it provides, the size is a small tradeoff.

"A very good and secure large scale virtualization platform but not the best user experience."

    Posted 2020-05-23

Pros: - Terminal apps like putty work quite seamlessly without any lag whatsoever.
    - Quite secure as a virtualization platform and can be trusted on a company scale.
    - It has a variety of apps that can be virtualized.

Cons: - The timeout aspect is quite annoying and makes you enter multiple passwords even if you leave your PC for a couple of minutes.
    - It requires multiple steps to login and open a particular app and has a slight lag between these steps making the entire experience not so seamless and sometimes frustrating.
    - It requires setting up from the system administrator on the macro level, so it's not a plug-and-play experience like remote desktop software.
    - Apps with a GUI (Chrome etc.) can take a while to load and sometimes crash without warning.

Overall: We use the Citrix Virtualization solution at our company and it has made working from home possible for the entire company. The system admin team was able to set up hundreds of accounts within a couple of days and the platform scaled with ease, although I really wish it had a more seamless user experience.
