CUNY recognizes New York State Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Business certification issued by the NYS Office of General Services (OGS). SDVOBs not certified by NYS/OGS will not count towards CUNY’s SDVOB utilization goals (with both prime and subcontracting SDVOB goals).

To qualify for NYS certification, an applicant must successfully complete the certification process that is required by OGS. Generally in addition to other requirements, businesses must demonstrate the following:

  • All firms seeking SDVOB certification must be owned, operated and controlled by service-disabled veteran with a service-connected disability rating of 10% or greater from the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Under Article 17-B of the Executive Law, an SDVOB is a business enterprise in which at least fifty-one percent (51%) is owned, operated and controlled by a service-disabled veteran.
  • The firm cannot exceed 300 full time equivalent employees.
