I have several thousand images in my library. Mediamagic implements a hierarchical file structure that greatly simplifies the task of finding a given image. On thing I particularly like is that images is assigned category names identical to the names of files where they reside.

There are several plug-ins whith a similar approach, but so far I like this one best. It's a simple, clean way to organize your media library. On the other hand, there are some glitches: If you upload multiple files at once, sometimes not all of them appear in the media library. And the counters (number of files per folder) are far off sometimes.
