Need help at WordCamp London? Look out for our volunteers

“Where can I get some coffee?”
“Where’s the quiet area?”
“Where are the nearest bathrooms?”

There might be a point during WordCamp London when you need to ask someone something practical, and to make sure you always find the answers you’re looking for, we’re making sure our wonderful team of volunteers is well distributed across the three buildings we’ll be using.

Please look out for our volunteers who will be wearing blue t-shirts with the WordCamp London 2018 logo, as well as CREW written on the back.

Here they are, in all their glory:

If you cannot see a volunteer around you, please go to the main entrance in the Rocket where you will be able to find a volunteer or organiser.

Volunteers are also instructed to report any Code of Conduct violation to the organisers in charge, so if you witness or experience harassment or any other forbidden behaviour please do not hesitate to talk to the first volunteer you see around you.

What is Gutenberg?

Gutenberg is one of the hot topics at WordCamp London 2018. We have more than one talk about it in the schedule, and a mini-event called Gutenbar where attendees are encouraged to demo what they’ve been already doing with it and discuss the transition.

The people at Give WP have shared this starter video with us to use during Gutenbar. The video demos the best features of the new editor for our favourite CMS and shows how they can be used to create new content easily and effectively.

We’d love to publicly thank the Give WP team for providing this for us and for the community, and please remember that we’re still collecting topics for the panel discussion during Gutenbar—if there’s something you’d like our panelist to talk about, get in touch!

Meet our Stadium sponsors: Oracle

We’re so excited to introduce Oracle as top-tier sponsor at WordCamp London 2018!

Oracle Corporation is an multinational tech corporation, headquartered in Redwood Shores, California, USA. The company specialises primarily in developing and marketing database software and technology, cloud engineered systems and enterprise software products.

We’ve chatted with Kori Hill, Marketing Specialist at Oracle, who gave us an overview about one of their most well-known products, AddThis: share buttons, targeting tools, and content recommendations that help website owners to get more likes, shares and followers.

Here’s what Kori said:

A huge thank you to our Arena sponsors

Every year, WordCamp London relies on the financial generosity of WordPress companies to support the cost of organising and hosting a successful and accessible WordCamp. This year, we’re delighted to be joined by WP Engine, Heart Internet, GoDaddy, Log and SiteGround as Arena sponsors.

Our Arena sponsors will be exhibiting during the event, so please do take the time to visit their booth and say hello; you may want to ask them questions about their services and products or simply say thank you!

Find out all about our Stadium sponsors: introducing 34SP!

We’re really, really happy to be sponsored by 34SP again this year!

34SP and their booth (ph. @WCBelfast on Twitter)

We’re sure many of you know them already. They are a Manchester-based hosting company, and their enthusiasm and contributions to WordPress are very well known in the community—they sponsor quite a few WordCamps and WordPress meetups, and several members of their team have been featured as speakers in national and international conferences.

We had a chat with Daniel Foster, managing director at 34SP, who gave us some insights on their company, their products, and what to expect from their presence at WordCamp London 2018.

Here’s what Daniel said:
