Hi, We are trying to figure out how to change the order of the sponsors and it seems that changing the post attributes/or post date is the only way to do that. Problem is, when we add a new sponsor and try to fit it in with the rest, we have to change the page attributes/post date on every sponsor in order to work in the new one, major headache, and it’s getting worse as we are starting to add a lot of sponsors. I installed “Simple Page Ordering” plugin that allows you to simply drag the items up and down in the admin screen, changing the order they appear in. This plugin works great on regular pages and posts throughout the site, but when I drag the sponsor posts up or down in the order I want them, they don’t actually change to that order on the site itself, they continue to sort by post date. Is there another simple way of changing the sort order? Or is there a way to make it compatible with this drag and drop plugin? Can you help? Thnx

  • Hey there

Using the order field in the post attributes should do the trick. (of you work with decimals here, you have room to add new posts in-between the existing ones).

I’ll have a look at the plugin to see if I can make Sponsors play nice with it.
Will get back to you soon!

    Cheers

I was looking through some of the other posts regarding sort order, and I found a shortcode that you set up for someone – orderby=”menu_order” – and when I added in that shortcode, it makes the Simple Page Ordering plugin work with it. So, in short, I got it figured out, and you don’t need to do anything to make the two plugs play nice, they already do, just needed to put that shortcode in. BUT, fyi, without the shortcode, it doesn’t seem to be defaulting to menu_order like you told someone else in that other post. It appears that by default the sponsors are sorted by post date, and completely ignores the post attributes and/or menu order. With the shortcode I am able to get it to sort by menu_order, and I assume that if I knew what the shortcode was, I could also get it to sort by post attributes.
