When Reese pinpoints that “deadly formula…her foe’s delicious ratio of 70% irresistible truth telling to 30% emotional poison”—I thought of [Mark] Fisher’s [Exiting the Vampire Castle] essay. In solidarity with 's vampires, for :

I have to acknowledge that it is right that these tweets are being met by a howling void. it is more just that I be neither condemned nor consoled.

Come, gentle cancelers. Cancel swiftly. I bare, to you all, my willing neck. I sprayed him. We both saw it.

Well I had a good run but I'm retiring as a human. I behaved ok to my fellow human all pandemic I think. But it's all moot now. I got together with my (also vaccinated) friend Virgil and, while we were eating falafel, somehow managed to blow my pollen-stricken nose AND SHOWER HIM

EDIT: I guess I should have foreseen this but, uh, while I thank all the people for their kind attempts to enlighten me to this Knowledge, provide the handy tricks etc., what I was saying was actually not that I, uh, want to fix this "problem." Thank you though

I feel like a related fact about myself is that my idea of hellfire is being asked to do a basic piece of arithmetic live on TV, the way Bake-Off contestants sometimes are (calculating ingredients/ratios). If I'm ever in that situation I will simply disintegrate in real time

Occasionally, however, I have got my fake reaction subtly wrong! Some of my friends are, inevitably, about to be onto me! So I'm blowing my own cover pre-emptively on here for reasons of dignity

9 times out of 10 I pass myself off as a Fahrenheit knower. No one... NO ONE suspects me of a perverse refusal to equip myself with this necessary local climate heuristic. They say "80" or "50" or whatever and I'm like "mnhm, totally". I have absolutely no idea what it means

CONFESSION. I have lived in the US on and off since 2011. I have never learned Fahrenheit. When you say: "damn it's gonna be like X degrees today." I try and arrange my face accordingly. It sounds bad (or good?) whatever it is. Unless... it's median, and that's what's noteworthy?

Upon my triumphant return, my Covid infant took one look at me and resolved to sit on my face in a firm and decisive way and never vacate it again. I am awake at 5am because my nose was just given its umpteenth aggressively affectionate sandpapering. Thankss Barnacle

Ahem I (me), a pandemic rustic and recluse, fully went to NYC for 3.5 days and only, like, dramatically messed up my travel twice (subway taken in wrong direction to the end of the line // lyft ordered to Right Number, Right Borough Even, Right Street Name, But Wrong Street Type)

Amazing how white people commit atrocities in one generation & then they just disappear from existence. No descendants, no names, no current wealth or land holdings that can be identified as a result of the atrocity. Only Black survivors exist with living memory, apparently.

Came here to say this. I assigned Joni's essay in a couple of my BISR courses and it remains invaluable
