Oculus Link Compatibility
If you'd like to use Oculus Link to connect your Quest to a PC, please start by reviewing the compatibility requirements.
Cable Requirements
Oculus Link requires a high-quality USB cable capable of supporting data and power.You'll also want to make sure that the USB cable is at least 3 meters (10 feet) for an optimal and comfortable experience.
Where can I buy a cable?
You can purchase the Oculus Link cable from the Oculus Quest Accessories page.
You can also use a third-party cable. While quality can vary across third-party cables, we've tested the Anker cable internally with good results.
NOTE: Many of the Anker listings on Amazon may be sold out of the recommended cable size of 3 meters (10 feet).

Software Requirements
To use Oculus Link, you need the Oculus PC app. Once you've downloaded the PC app, make sure that the Oculus PC software version is up to date and your Quest is running the latest operating system. More information on setup can be found in Setting up your Quest with Oculus Link.

How do I use Oculus Link to connect my Quest 2 or Quest to a computer?
If you'd like to use Oculus Link to connect your Quest to a PC, please start by reviewing our Oculus Link compatibility article.
Confirm the following:
  • Your PC meets the recommended specs.
  • You're using a high-quality USB cable capable of supporting data and power.
  • Your Oculus software is up to date on both your PC and your Quest.
If you're unable to enable Oculus Link:
  • If you don't see Add Quest as the device on the PC software: log out of the PC software and log back in.
  • If you don't see the Enable Link pop-up on the PC software: log out of the PC software and log back in.
  • If you don't see the Enable Link option under Settings on Quest: completely power off the headset and restart.
Once you've confirmed these requirements, you can begin using your Quest with Link. To do so:
  1. 1.
    Open the Oculus app on your PC.
  2. 2.
    Turn on your Quest 2 or Quest.
  3. 3.
    Plug your USB 3 cable into a USB 3.0 port on your PC, and then plug the other end into your headset.
  4. 4.
    A message displays in VR prompting you to Allow access to data. Select Deny. If you mistakenly 'Allow' the prompt, you must unplug your USB cable from the Quest and plug it back in.
  5. 5.
    When prompted to Enable Oculus Link, select Enable to begin remote rendering using Oculus Link.

How do I adjust my graphics performance preferences?
You can adjust the settings for the graphic performance of your Oculus Quest 2 + Link from the Oculus app on your computer.
Quest 2 + Link
  1. 1.
    Open the Oculus app on your Computer.
  2. 2.
    Click Devices on the left side of the app.
  3. 3.
    Click Quest and Touch.
  4. 4.
    Scroll down to Graphics Preferences.
  5. 5.
    Here, you can adjust your Refresh Rate and Render Resolution.
    • Refresh rate: The number of times your Quest 2 screen updates with new images each second. You can set your refresh rate to 72 Hz, 80 Hz, or 90 Hz.
    • Render Resolution: Adjusts the resolution that the app or game you're using is being rendered at. The maximum render resolution you can set is 5408 x 2736.
Improved visuals vs performance
Keep in mind, while increasing your refresh rate and render resolution will result in improved visuals, these adjustments could have a negative impact on overall performance. Even with some of the newest and most powerful GPUs, maxing out values for the render resolution slider with a 90 Hz refresh rate may result in dropped or missing frames, which creates a less smooth in-VR experience.

Oculus Air Link

Connecting your Oculus Quest 2 to your PC with Oculus Air Link
Oculus Air Link requires both your Quest 2 and PC Oculus app to be on v28 which is coming soon.
Air Link allows you to wirelessly connect your Quest 2 to your PC using a secure Wi-Fi network.
While Oculus Air Link supports all secure Wi-Fi standards, we recommend using WPA-2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access, Version 2) because it is the most secure standard and it is widely available.
Before you begin connecting with Oculus Air Link, confirm your Oculus Quest 2 and Oculus PC app are updated to v28 or higher by checking the version in Settings.
From your PC:
  1. 1.
  2. 2.
    Open the Oculus PC app and select Settings.
  3. 3.
    Select the Beta tab. Select the button next to Air Link.
Connect from your headset for the first time:
  1. 1.
    Put on your Quest 2 headset and press [oculus button] to open the universal menu.
  2. 2.
    Select [gear icon] Settings then select Experimental Features.
  3. 3.
    Find and select the button next to Air Link.
  4. 4.
    Read the Air Link Requirements then select Continue.
  5. 5.
    Find and select your PC in the Available PCs list then select Pair.
  6. 6.
    Once pairing is complete you can now click Launch.
After you pair for the first time, you can turn on Air Link from your Quick Actions menu in Settings.
To turn off Air Link:
  1. 1.
    From your Quest 2 headset, press [oculus button] to open the universal menu.
  2. 2.
    Select Settings.
  3. 3.
    Select Experimental, then click next to Air Link to turn off.
To keep your Wi-Fi connection secure:
  • Only share your Wi-Fi password with trusted devices.
  • Avoid shared or untrusted Wi-Fi networks.
Minimum Requirements for Air Link
Oculus Link includes new settings to modify your Bitrate. To access these settings:
  • Launch Air Link
  • The Air Link panel inside of Dash will now display two options:
    • Dynamic Bitrate
    • Static Bitrate
  • You can adjust the bitrate sliders by selecting and dragging the sliders right or left. Once selected the new bitrate will be set. You will be then asked to confirm or cancel the changes.
  • If you select a bitrate that is too high and the app stops responding, don’t worry we revert the settings after 10 seconds if you don’t confirm them.

Connecting your Oculus Quest 2 to a secure Wi-Fi Network for Oculus Air Link
A secure Wi-Fi network uses passwords and encryption methods to keep other devices from seeing or modifying the communication between your headset and your PC. There are two ways of finding out the type of Wi-Fi connection you have.
Using the Oculus app:
  1. 1.
    Turn on your Quest 2 and open the Oculus app on your phone.
  2. 2.
    Tap Devices from the bottom menu.
  3. 3.
    Tap the headset that you are currently using, then tap Wi-Fi.
  4. 4.
    Tap the Wi-Fi network that you're connected to at the moment.
  5. 5.
    Below Security, it will show the protocol being used (example: WPA/WPA2 PSK).
Using your headset:
  1. 1.
    Press the Oculus button on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
  2. 2.
    Select Settings then select Device.
  3. 3.
    Select Wi-Fi.
  4. 4.
    Select the Wi-Fi network that you are connected to (it is marked as “Connected”).
  5. 5.
    Below Security, it will show the protocol being used (example: WPA/WPA2 PSK).

Oculus Air Link best practices and known issues
Best Practices
  • Have your PC connected to Router/Access Point via Ethernet cable
  • Headset should be connected to Wi-Fi via 5GHz band (AC or AX)
  • Router in the same room as the headset or in line-of-sight, and at least 1m off the ground
  • Non-mesh network configuration
Known Issues
  • My setup is ideal, but the performance is not good.
    • Air Link’s performance might be impacted if the Wi-Fi channel switches from 5-GHz to 2.4-GHz during a session. To avoid this behavior you can either create separate networks for the 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz bands, or disable the 2.4-GHz band altogether. Please consult the manual of your router for more information.
  • How do I unpair your headset connected to my PC?
    • Right now there is no option to unpair the headset from the PC. The way to unpair is from your headset. On headset, select Settings, Experimental Feature, Turn Air Link off.
  • I have no audio when I launch into Air Link.
    • To recover audio, reboot the headset and relaunch Air Link
  • My Settings panel becomes blank on Air Link crash or ungraceful Air Link session termination
    • You may have to reboot the headset if the settings panel goes blank.
  • Max bit rate values for AMD and NVIDIA GPUs are different
    • You can set up to a max of 100 mbps on AMD
    • You can set up to a max of 200 mbps on NVIDIA
  • My bitrate settings changes are not persistent across sessions
    • You'll always enter the Air Link session with default settings (Dynamic bitrate set to 100 mbps); any changes to bit rate settings will not be persistent across Air Link sessions.
  • I’m unable to discover my PC.
    • Make sure that your network is setup correctly
    • Check that both of your PC and headset on the same local network and neither of them is on the VPN
    • Make sure your firewall is not blocking the TCP port 5669
    • Try turning on/off the Air Link button on the Oculus PC app
    • Reboot your headset and restart your PC software
