Many themes come with a Social Links Menu to show attractive icons that link to services like Twitter and Facebook, allowing visitors to find you on social media.

How To Set Up the Social Links Menu

1. Head to My Sites → Appearance, then Customize.
2. In the Customizer, click the Menus tab:

3. If your theme already has a social links menu, you can click it to begin editing.
4. If your theme doesn’t have a social links menu, click Create New Menu instead:

5. Type in a name for your social links menu, select Social Links/Icons in Menu Locations and click Next:

6. To add a social media link to the menu, click + Add Items:

7. Next, select the Custom Links menu item type:

8. Add the address for one of your social media profiles in the URL field. For example, if the link to your Facebook profile is https://www.facebook.com/WordPresscom, you would copy that into the URL field.
9. You can also enter a name for the social media profile in the Link Text field. Once you’re ready, click Add to Menu:

10. Repeat the above steps until all the social media profiles you wish to use have been added to the menu:

11. Finally, click Save Changes.

Supported Icons

Linking to any of the following sites in your social links menu will automatically display its icon in your menu:

Older themes may support a different set of icons — your theme’s documentation should list supported icons.

If Your Theme Does Not Have a Social Links Menu

If your theme does not support a Social Links menu, you can add a Social Icons widget to any widget area or a Social Icons block to any page or post.
