Research Scientist

Shreya is a Research Scientist in the Prime Machine Learning Team, part of the Worldwide Marketing org. She has a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering and loves to use her Machine Learning (ML) background to dive deep into customer data and gather insights and recommendations for her business stakeholders. She joined Amazon in April 2017, shortly after finishing her post-doc in Biomedical Informatics from Columbia University.

Shreya is responsible for building Machine Learning (ML) models  that help her business stakeholders create personalized products and messages for their customers. She has helped launch and personalize several programs and products such as Prime subscription plan offers and Back to School/Off to College Campaigns. Recently, she has helped develop a solution to scale ML models globally and launch personalization faster in new markets. Shreya’s favorite part about working at Amazon is the ability to use data to come up with recommendations that speak to customers. Amazon’s customer-obsessed culture has made this job an ideal fit for her.

One of the things that Shreya loves at Amazon is the opportunity to grow and learn new skills while working with some of the smartest people in the industry. During her tenure, she has picked up several programming languages, learned and applied new scientific methods, co-authored several internal publications and one external publiction, and co-authored a patent. This experience has given her the best of both worlds – fast-paced industry work along with academic learning and growth.

Outside of work, Shreya loves to travel, hike, explore the mountains and lakes around Seattle, and try out new cafes and restaurants in the area. She also enjoys cooking, reading, sketching, and indoor gardening on gloomier days.
