Hilarie Koplow-McAdams

Hilarie joined NEA as a Venture Partner in 2017 on the technology team where she focuses on enterprise software and services  An software industry veteran, Hilarie spent the last three decades at growth-stage companies in operating and board roles. Most recently, Hilarie was President at New Relic.  Prior to that, Hilarie was President at Salesforce.com responsible for the company’s worldwide sales organization. Hilarie started her career at Intuit and Oracle. 

Hilarie currently serves as a member of the board of directors of public and private companies including  Zendesk, Data Robot, Automation Anywhere, HackerOne, BloomReach, Beyond Identity, Tulip and Knotch.  She is Chair of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. She also is Chair of University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy Advisory Council and serves on the Board of Trustees. She previously served on the board of directors for Informatica, now a private company, Duo Security which was acquired by Cisco and Tableau which was acquired by Salesforce. 

 

Hilarie has a master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from Mills College.  She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and two children. 

Addepar

David Obrand

David Obrand is Addepar’s President, overseeing all aspects of the company’s go-to-market strategy and execution, with a specific focus on accelerating growth in core markets and expanding the business into adjacent markets and geographies. 

David has served on Addepar’s Board of Directors since 2018, and brings more than 25 years of executive, sales, investment, and technology industry experience at client-centric organizations, including Salesforce, Yammer, Radius Intelligence, and most recently at Valor Equity Partners where he actively managed portfolio companies in conjunction with existing management teams. David remains in an Advisor role at Valor, and sits on the boards of HackerOne and Mode.

Chief Information Security Officer of Google Cloud

Phil Venables

Phil is the Chief Information Security Officer of Google Cloud where he leads the risk, security, compliance, and privacy teams. Prior to joining Google, Phil was a Partner at Goldman Sachs where he held multiple roles over a long career, initially as their first Chief Information Security Officer, a role he held for 17 years. In subsequent roles he was Chief Risk Officer for the firm’s operational risks, an operating partner in their private equity business and a senior advisor to the firm’s clients and executive leadership on cybersecurity, technology risk, digital business risk, and operational resilience. In addition to this, Phil was a Board Director of Goldman Sachs Bank. Before Goldman Sachs, Phil held multiple Chief Information Security Officer as well as senior engineering roles across a range of finance, energy and technology companies. Outside of Google, Phil serves on the boards of the NYU Tandon School of Engineering and the NYU Stern Business School Volatility and Risk Institute. He also serves on the Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board of NIST and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

General Partner, Andreessen Horowitz

Katie Haun

Kathryn (“Katie”) Haun is a general partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) where she co-leads the firm's Crypto Funds. She joined in June 2018 as its eleventh general partner, and first female GP.

Previously, Katie spent a decade as a federal prosecutor focusing on fraud, cyber, and corporate crime alongside agencies including the SEC, FBI, and Treasury. She created the government’s first cryptocurrency task force and led investigations into the Mt. Gox hack and the corrupt agents on the Silk Road task force.

While with the U.S. Department of Justice, Katie prosecuted RICO murders, organized crime, public corruption, gangs, and money laundering. She also held senior policy positions at Justice Department headquarters in both the National Security Division and Attorney General’s office where her portfolio included antitrust, tax, and national security.

While in the private sector, Katie has testified before both the House and Senate on the intersection of technology and regulation.

Katie serves on the boards of Coinbase, as chair of the nominating and governance committee as well as compensation committee member, and HackerOne, as an audit committee member, and has invested in and advised tech companies from seed to Series E stage.

She teaches a management course at Stanford Business School and previously taught cybercrime at Stanford Law School.

Katie clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and is an honors graduate of Stanford Law School. She is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Benchmark Capital

Bill Gurley

Bill has spent over 20 years as a General Partner at Benchmark, joining in 1999. Before entering the venture capital business, Bill spent four years on Wall Street as a top-ranked research analyst, including three years at Credit Suisse First Boston. Over his venture career, he has worked with such companies as GrubHub, Seamless, Nextdoor, OpenTable, Uber, and Zillow.com. Bill holds a B.S. in computer science from the University of Florida and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

John Hering

John is a founding partner at Vy Capital, a technology investment company with more than $4B in assets under management with investments in multi-generational technology companies including SpaceX and Reddit. John has spent his entire career as a technology founder, entrepreneur, and investor. He co-founded Lookout and Coalition, both leading global cybersecurity companies, which collectively protect hundreds of millions of users and hundreds of thousands of businesses around the world and have raised over $500M in venture capital. Top publications have recognized John as an industry leader and innovator. BusinessWeek named John a Best Young Tech Entrepreneur, Fortune named him a Smartest Person in Tech, the editors of MIT Tech Review dubbed John a 35 Under 35 entrepreneur and Fortune Magazine included John on its list of 40 Under 40 entrepreneurs.
