Our monthly “Show & Tell” Zoom call took place yesterday. This video chat is a place for designers to share their in-progress work and an opportunity for anyone to give feedback.

As this is the last meeting of the month, we will be gathering on Zoom for our “Show & Tell.”

As is the last Wednesday of the month, we will have a Show & Tell Meeting. This is a video meeting using Zoom where contributors have the opportunity to share their work and ask for feedback from the team.
The link to the Zoom Meeting will be posted on the Slack channel and the meeting will be recorded for those who cannot attend. A summary will also be posted in lieu of meeting notes. You can also check out the summary post for the month of April.

Exploration on the Document Attribute Side Toolbar by @jameskoster
James shared his exploration of the sidebarSidebarA sidebar in WordPress is referred to a widget-ready area used by WordPress themes to display information that is not a part of the main content. It is not always a vertical column on the side. It can be a horizontal rectangle below or above the content area, footer, header, or any where in the theme. inspector among the many things he is currently working on. Being inspired by this PR he is working on proposing a change for Post/Page Title to the top including other elements of the inspector. He’s tried a couple of times According to him, the benefits include:
Quick access to the page title
Update templates (adding this to the sidebar is quite challenging)
General information architecture on the sidebar is detrimental in its own way

‘GutenbergGutenbergThe Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. In relation to this issue on GitHub, Channing has been collaborating with Javier with the idea of ‘Gutenberg Labs’. This has everything to do with the experiment window on the Gutenberg pluginPluginA plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party. We have been having discussions on the design channel about how this can work out. Channing & Javier have been collecting early ideas on where this can go. They began with the WordPress About page for releases to work with as a reference point. Similar references include:
GitHubGitHubGitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/ Feature Preview (Notifications BetaBetaA pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Effectively Contributing to the Make WordPress Global Design
Among the many ways people can get involved with WordPress includes organizing or speaking at Meetups or WordCamps, etc. In order to become a Design Contributor you can simply do the following:
No need to worry at all following the steps you can always pingPingThe act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point. Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM). Users might say something along the lines of “Ping me when the meeting starts.” us on the Make WordPress Global Design Channel over Slack.
Additionally attending the Weekly Meetings and Triage is also a great opportunity for new contributors to get involved with Design. You can find the Meeting Calendar to find out information on the Meetings Times and Slack Channel for getting involved.

Do you have something you are working on to share, it can be Gutenberg, coreCoreCore is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress., metaMetaMeta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. or even a demo of something cool.
Maybe it’s something you want feedback on that you are contributing, or perhaps it’s something you are working on and would love to bring into the project. Now is your time to share! To share something, just add a comment here and you’re on the agenda!
