Semiologic Cache 2.11 Now Out

Sem-Cache already delivered great results in website performance when compared to WP  Super Cache and W3 Total Cache.   With version 2.11 of Sem-Cache, performance is improved and a few hidden bugs squashed.  Simply upgrade the plugin.  I would recommend turning caching off then back on to get the cached rebuilt immediately.

Pinnacle 2.5 Out

Version 2.5 of the Pinnacle theme has been released.  The primary focus of this release is allowing for additional, and more complex, Header and Footer areas.   Semiologic Reloaded introduced a Header and Footer Boxes Bar to which widgets can be added.  This bar was then added into the Header/Footer.  This provided for columnar type content in those areas.  This functionality was kept in Pinnacle to allow for migration from Reloaded to Pinnacle.Pinnacle Section Panels

Plugin Retirement Party

When Semiologic and Semiologic Pro was first created by Denis, WordPress was still in its infancy.  Now that it’s 2015, WordPress has greatly matured and Jetpack has brought wordpress.com functionality to those that self-host their blogs and websites.  Semiologic Plugins Retirement Party Some technology, like RSS, has been supplanted by Facebook and Twitter news feeds.    Given all of this, some of the Semiologic plugins and third party plugin forks just aren’t practical to maintain.   With Wordpress being released every 3-4 months, having to test and release plugins just to say they are version compatible, is simply just a pain.
