Regulations

Last updated on September 14, 2015

Some web and mobile inventory is subject to the following regulations:

  • Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA): A federal law prohibiting the passing personally identifiable information (PII) on child-directed website (the intended audience has an age of 12 or under).
  • California: SB-568: Prohibits operators of web or mobile inventory directed to minors (age 17 or under) from knowingly showing ads that use minor’s information, such as their physical location or profile activity, to target an ad of specific sensitive categories.

You must select an intended audience value for your site or mobile app when you create a site. Ad requests from this inventory will pass your intended audience selection to buyers in OpenX Ad Exchange so that they can make appropriate bid responses.

Alternatively, you can pass the openrtb ad request parameter in an ad request and include the Regs object in its value.
