Projects for WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ are simply things that need to get done. In most cases, these are specific tasks that need to get completed and are larger in nature. Those projects will get planned out and designed (if needed) then sent on to development.

In other cases, there are many disparate “to do” items across a specific portion of the site that will get combined together into one “project”.

Improving the theme review team process.
idea Showcase Redesign & Internationalization
As the design on WordPress.org changes, it should be brought to other parts of the site. The showcase could use this new design while also being rewritten in such a way that international sites could use the same codebase, instead of running their own one-off showcase.

Redesigning the news blog to fit the new style, while also bringing the design to internationalized sites.
idea Profile Redesign & Improvements
The current codebase for profiles is built on BuddyPress, closed source, and not very flexible. A redesign should also include open sourcing and bringing new features to the site.
idea Translate Redesign
Working with the GlotPress team, we should redesign translate.wordpress.org to make contributing translations easier for new and experienced contributors.

They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party directory is built on an old version of bbPressbbPress Free, open source software built on top of WordPress for easily creating forums on sites. https://bbpress.org., closed source, and could use a design refresh. Work being done on the new plugin directory brings it to WordPress, makes it fully open sourceOpen Source Open Source denotes software for which the original source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified. The WordPress.org support forums are built on an old version of bbPress, closed source, and could use a design refresh. Additionally, the international support forums run a different codebase than the main forums. Work being done will rebuild the support forums on WordPress and the bbPress plugin, unify the support experience between English and international, and redesign the forums. complete Make O2P2 P2 or O2 is the term people use to refer to the Make WordPress blog. It can be found at https://make.wordpress.org/.
Upgrading the make network to o2 allows for cross posting, easier tagging, and a new design. The work will be migrated to international sites so they can coordinate their teams better. Owners: @pento, with @mapk designing
complete Helphub
User documentation on the Codex is out-of-date, un-targeted, poorly designed, and running on Mediawiki. Helphub aims to rebuild user documentation as a knowledge base on WordPress, redesigning it and updating content to be more relevant. Owner: @kenshino
complete WordPress.org Homepage Redesign
The homepage of WordPress.org is out of date and doesn’t conform to modern styles. Redesigning it should increase user engagement. Additionally, the design should be made available to international sites. Owners: @mapk and @Otto42

For years, logins have been run through the support forums, which run on an old version of bbPress. Centralizing logins onto a new domain will allow us to open source the work, build it on WordPress, and opens the door to future enhancements like OAuth. Owner: @stephdau
