Strange behavior with columns block

Description

I seem to be unable to add any blocks to a column of the Columns block via the Block Inserter Sidebar.

What I do:

  1. Click +button
  2. Click "Browse All"
  3. Click Design > Columns, choose (fx) 3 columns
  4. Click + in the first column
  5. Click "Browse All"
  6. Click (fx) Text > Quote

What happens: Quote adds below the Columns block (sometimes further below or even above)
What was expected: Quote adds in first column of the Columns block

Testing the block inserter in the WordPress 5.6 release candidate, it seems the problem is fixed for the next version (scheduled for December 8).
