Among several hundred positive SARS-CoV-2 results, the average crossing point value of our LDT has been 24.6 (range: 15.5 - 33.6). Get your bleach ready, my laboratory friends...

Medical lab scientists are changing schedules and working long hours/weekends for testing. The nationwide shortage of MLS has been exposed during the pandemic. Hopeful that enrollment increases for MLS programs. ⁦⁦⁦

US has now become the #1 in terms of cases. With incredibly low testing rates, meaning the numbers are a lot higher than we think. The time for waiting is over. We must act. We must act aggressively, and we must act decisively.

So far, Germany's fatality rate for coronavirus — 0.5% —is the lowest in the world, by a long shot. Experts say that's because they're testing early and often. One virologist estimates the country has been testing about 120,000 people a week.

When interpreting changes in results day to day - What you see reflects combination of increasing tests and cases. Limited testing means case counts growth may better reflect changes in test capacity (linear) and may underestimate true case growth (exponential)

South Korea's success at battling back is extraordinary. Only 76 cases on March 14. Look at this curve. Amazing. Don't focus on the blue line. Look at the green bars.

This is highly insulting for all clinical laboratories working extremely hard to provide testing. We are experts in lab diagnostics and it is not a simple test performed in a drive thru.

A day in which the US epidemic is rapidly accelerating. Now at ~3,000 cases but likely 10x more due to undertesting. There is clear evidence of community spread but not acting fast enough. If US wants to avoid the catastrophe of Italy we need to act now!
