The functionality is implemented in the beta version of the plugin which is not yet uploaded to the plugin directory, I forgot to push it to the WP plugin directory, will do it this weekend.
If you want to test the plugin before hand, let me know or checkout the code on github.

Also if there is an option to enable/disable collapsing, would be nice.
i.e. enable only on taxonomy.
a hook instead of Setting UI is also fine…
You can hide those links using CSS for now, I will add hooks next time(Though I assume it won’t be useful to many as most users wont use). Settings UI will be a overkill.
