The Leaflet is a snapshot of the work HLC does to fulfill its mission. Published six times a year, it provides updates, news and resources regarding HLC, accreditation and the higher education industry. This includes information on proposed and adopted policies, new or updated procedures, professional development and training opportunities, profiles on members of the HLC community, information about HLC’s outreach and advocacy efforts, and much more.

Fall Update: Health and Safety
HLC is resuming in-person accreditation visits by peer reviewers whenever possible during the 2021–22 academic year. It will continue to offer most programs and events virtually through December 2021.
2021 Substantive Change Updates
HLC has made a number of improvements to its substantive change applications, screening forms and process information to clarify requirements for institutions.
Seeking Accreditation With HLC
On September 1, HLC launched a new Accelerated Process for Initial Accreditation for institutions interested in seeking accreditation with HLC that are currently accredited by a historically regional accrediting agency and meet other requirements. It also streamlined its Eligibility Process and Candidacy procedures for other institutions seeking HLC accreditation.
New Feature: HLC Data
Leaflet will feature aggregated data about HLC's member institutions to demonstrate trends in higher education and within the HLC community. The first data report is on the 2021 Institutional Update Data.
Website Refresh
HLC recently reorganized the Accreditation section of its website menu to make it easier for visitors to find information about its processes and requirements.
Peer Reviewer Prep: Webinars for Peer Reviewers
In the fall, many peer reviewers will be hard at work completing visits to institutions and subsequent reports. HLC has scheduled several webinars to help peer reviewers prepare for their efforts this fall.
