Police and Corrections number represents number of suicides we have confirmed since we started collecting the data in 2016, this number dates back to 1978 but is not all deaths, only what has been reported. Collection of fire, EMS and dispatch began in 2021 and we expect the overall numbers will rise as we verify the deaths. Why First H.E.L.P.?

First H.E.L.P. prides itself on taking action.  Donations to the organization fund support for families that have lost a first responder to suicide, training for agencies seeking to prevent suicide, and work that leads to legislative and policy change across the country.

Our Family

The world of first responders is challenging at best, and while many agencies and organizations have worked to make the job physically safer with new tactics, equipment, and policy, the same cannot be said for first responder mental health.  First H.E.L.P seeks to change that by bringing together credible representatives from each first responder discipline to serve as a voice for those who work in the field and those families that stand behind them.
