    Interesting read. Perhaps UK politicians should look to the high vaccine take up in Ireland. Pretty straightforward equation - you want pints 🍺 you get vaccinated 💉💉 unless you have a legitimate exception. Rare I agree with Johnson but he is correct here.

    Politicians the world over are amazingly careless with their phones. It is almost like there is a training course on how to be conveniently "hacked" that PR handlers go on. Almost.

    DPC was not notified by Dept of Coveney claim of hacked phone. Dept now answering this by saying it was a “cyber attack”. But declining to give any further explanation. (eg whether it regards Coveney’s earlier description of phishing as a cyber attack.)

    Every single time I talk to an engineer from a company - any company - that has invested years building/buying a tracing system, what I hear almost always is this: Tracing is only used for niche/isolated use cases. Most engineers mostly just look at logs and metrics.

    Good read. I would add that beyond just preparing for and learning from attrition having your team members know you will actively help them find something else if they decide to move is helpful for everyone. Attrition will always happen.

    As desktop licensing inquiries start landing in my calendar this keeps running through my mind.

    It is a source of constant confusion for me that traditional enterprises will spend tens to hundreds of millions on big iron IT, but next to nothing on making developers lives easier & more productive. Their new competitors are *always* making developers lives easier.

    I worked in an SAP environment that was customized to the bone. The team refereed to it as “the ZAP”.
