Gutenberg

تفصیل

"Gutenberg” is a codename for a whole new paradigm in WordPress site building and publishing, that aims to revolutionize the entire publishing experience as much as Gutenberg did the printed word. Right now, the project is in the first phase of a four-phase process that will touch every piece of WordPress — Editing, Customization, Collaboration, and Multilingual — and is focused on a new editing experience, the block editor.

The block editor introduces a modular approach to pages and posts: each piece of content in the editor, from a paragraph to an image gallery to a headline, is its own block. And just like physical blocks, WordPress blocks can added, arranged, and rearranged, allowing WordPress users to create media-rich pages in a visually intuitive way — and without work-arounds like shortcodes or custom HTML.

The block editor first became available in December 2018, and we’re still hard at work refining the experience, creating more and better blocks, and laying the groundwork for the next three phases of work. The Gutenberg plugin gives you the latest version of the block editor so you can join us in testing bleeding-edge features, start playing with blocks, and maybe get inspired to build your own.

I might be adding issues here as I find them. One major issue is that what I see on the editor is not what displays on the live page. Is it too much to ask for an editor that does what you want? I cannot resize images. They fill the content section as it is selected and refuse to get smaller to match everything else. When choosing thumbnail it instead causes the image to keep its size and stretch to bad quality. Is this a bug? I can't crop images. What is the point of the crop button? It doesn't do anything. I even looked up tutorials on how to use it and the function would never apply in any situation I could think of. It is very hard to edit anything after content has been created. All of these popups and overlays are a headache and cover content. Moving blocks manually next to or above other blocks doesn't work. There are only 2 types of content blocks that allow for drag and drop as intended. Why is there no vertical align? You seriously call this a new and improved editor and there is no vertical align on anything? I had to install a plugin just to add in functions that were missing. This is so unacceptable. I had more features in the old editor and they were not all hidden. Deleting a block causes junk code to be added every time and sometimes it cannot be removed without screwing up the rest of my content. When I delete something I expect it to be 100% gone. Code and everything! Copying content in the code editor from one block to another causes all blocks to break despite the code structure has not been broken in any way. I have been using html for years and I know how to move code around. What happened to html? All blocks are created using a sudo code that is a new language on their own and it is not compatible with proper html. Meaning it is no longer possible to next blocks into other blocks without breaking everything. Why does it create a new block when I go to select content? Whenever I try to edit existing content or I click out of a block and try to click on it again, a new block creates itself. Why is there a 99% new block creation space wherever you click and a 1% editing space? This problem is more magnified when you need to make a new block and deselect it. Now it's lost to the code because you can no longer select it again. Viewing revision content is no longer an option. It's been completely replaced with a back button to revert changes. When I spent an hour trying to fix something and then finding out that wasn't going to work, I spend a good 10 minutes hitting the back button until all of my changes were reverted.

Auto-updated to version 5.8 of WordPress and Gutenberg killed my site. An error of type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused in line 12 of the file /home/xxxxx/xxxxx.com/wp-content/plugins/gutenberg/lib/full-site-editing/class-wp-block-template.php. Error message: Cannot declare class WP_Block_Template, because the name is already in use. Not a fan of this happening. Not a big fan of Gutenberg anyway, it's a little too fascistic for my tastes. Now I've removed the plug-in from the file system to bring my site back online. Doubt I'll reinstall it. Massive FAIL.

Blocks as widgets, forced with new WordPress updates made me come here and say I had enough of it. First post template, now widgets, what's next?

Gutenberg is a great idea, specially for newcomers, but it slows down development for experienced users. The two thousand negative reviews aren't lying. It shouldn't be a part of the WordPress core system, but it should still exist. I personally like it, but the way the WordPress team is trying to push this down people's throat is truly sad.

I'm not sure where, but somewhere you did it wrong. I learned the Gutenberg and I know how to use it. But I DON'T USE IT anyway because it is very unconvenient: - all elements permanently jump and change their size, when you interact with them. - where is normal classic "Drug & Drop", why I need to click arrows to move block up or bottom? It looks like the Elementor owner gave you money to create such bad solution. And you extended this shit also on widgets. OMG. Sorry I can not stop myself to write such bad review although I'm developer and I know how it is hard to create IT products.
