Test Team Update – 9 Aug 2021

This is the first Test Team update in years. To reestablish the weekly update for our team, this week’s report is an overview. Future reports will provide quantitative stats for tracking and measurement.

Rebuilding the test team

  • Active meetings:
    • Since May 2021, team meets each Tuesday: alternates weeks for triage and team chats
    • Since 5.6, manual testing session each Friday
  • Team Reps: 2 Team Reps nominated and selected
  • Helping contributors: pilot a “Week in Test”
    • Scope: raise awareness, promote learning, and help contributors discover where to contribute
    • Team agreed to pilot this weekly P2P2 P2 or O2 is the term people use to refer to the Make WordPress blog. It can be found at https://make.wordpress.org/.

Accomplishments

  • Awarded 5.8 test badges:
    • FSE Outreach Program:
      • 53 contributors given Test Contributor badge (see p2)
      • 4 contributors given Test Team badge
    • 16 contributors given Test Contributor and Test Team badges (Meta 5827)
  • Team Reps: 2 Team Reps nominated and selected
  • Projects:
    • e2e (Trac 53737): team agreed to process and pilot; owner assigned
    • Modernization of PHPPHP PHP (recursive acronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) is a widely-used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. http://php.net/manual/en/intro-whatis.php. tests: consensus achieved; 70% of patches committed
    • Improving tester experience in handbooks: owner assigned
