Peskin's anti-recall charter amendment would protect incompetent and malicious politicians, like the School Board, from being held accountable by voters. Our democracy requires that the voices of its citizens are heard, not silenced by the powerful. Peskin's BS has no place in SF
This is a dangerous power grab by the same forces who oppose the BoE recall. It would dramatically weaken the mayor’s power to act on issues such as public safety, affordable housing, homelessness, & give supervisors - who aren’t elected citywide - unprecedented power
URGENT
We need help to stop @AaronPeskin and @conniechansf's antidemocratic power grab! They're seizing power from Mayor @LondonBreed, putting an unprecedented amount of control in the hands of our terrible Supervisors and shielding politicians from voter-driven recalls.
, this 🧵 is for you. I'm not naming names, but the legislator I just texted with told me our best plan of action: "BLAST THE F*CK OUT OF THEM."
Let's do this.

Nine months until the next election is an eternity in the learning lives of students who have been chronically disadvantaged by the S.F. school board’s performance, The Chronicle's editorial board writes.
! For context we are Chinese-Am and Mexican lesbian progressive Democrat moms who believe Collins and Lopez have committed gross malfeasance and failed our children
We got one@recallsfboevolunteers @SFParentson Alison Collins:
Racist tweets about Asian Americans

Last year, @TheRickWilson asked Trump’s former lawyer @MichaelCohen212 to predict which of the Trump kids Donald would feed to the wolves to save his own a**?
After the news this week, we’re looking back at what he said to Rick & @TaraSetmayer on LPTV’s The Breakdown…
SF CHRONICLE ENDORSES THE RECALL OF LÓPEZ, COLLINS AND MOLIGA!!!!
"Our decision was solely based on the board’s competence in shepherding the district and its students through the gravest of times during the pandemic."
"Our goal is no longer to prevent every case of COVID. Instead, our goal is to prevent the worst outcomes of the disease, such as hospitalizations and deaths, and to do this while keeping essential services open, like schools and hospitals." -SFDPH Director Dr. Grant Colfax
Flint, Michigan schools closed indefinitely. This district's minority enrollment is 90%. 80% of students are in living in poverty. You want to talk about economic inequality, talk to your union bosses keeping these kids and families locked out.
cancelled only Lowell's magnet program as "elitist”
Of the 3 magnet schools in SF, Lowell is neither the wealthiest nor least diverse. That title belongs to SOTA, where
This, more than anything else, is why SF's small businesses and hospitality business have been struggling. Tech & finance working from home. No international tourists. It's a 1-2 punch that is gut twisting.
Stunning stat: 48 Democrats who supported reforming filibuster to pass voting rights bills represent 34 MILLION more Americans than 52 senators (all Republicans + Sinema/Manchin) who opposed it
Woke up this morning v depressed by the erosion of democratic norms, the unbridled growth of radical extremism, and now, the inability of many to even distinguish fact from fiction. We need to reverse course before it’s too late.
I think historians would agree the filibuster was used today to advance its most consistent purpose thru history: to block equal rights for Blacks & other minorities
#GoodMorning to everyone who knows that Biden authorized free vaccines in February 2021 and that most of those refusing to #GetVaccinated are Republicans.
to declare Justice Dep't will still protect voters rights w/out acknowledging GOP #SCOTUS has gutted the 2 provisions of VRA they can use for that & that filibuster is blocking the leg to restore them
Manchin and Sinema should just reregister as Republicans at this point. Devastated that the GOP was so willing to change filibuster rules for their convenience but Dems can’t to preserve the cornerstone of our democracy
Tonight we grieve democracy's loss. Tomorrow we fight for our country's future.
In the meantime, I need a break from Twitter. I will be back in a few days.
NEW: Another 650 people died in San Francisco of drug overdoses in 2021, a dip from the previous year’s tally of more than 700 but still a devastatingly high number.
About 100 people attended San Francisco Chinatown’s vigil event in honor of Michelle Go 高慧民, a Bay Area native killed in New York City last Saturday after being pushed in front of an incoming subway train.
There’s a lack of accountability in this city and I think the criminals know it. This is organized crime for sure and the fact that there are often no consequences for these kinds of crimes is one of the reasons why they continue.
Michelle Alyssa Go was a Bay Area native, pushed to her death this weekend in Times Square.
In collaboration with @AFI_HQ, local organizers are holding a candle vigil for her at Portsmouth Square tomorrow @ 6PM.

There’s no doubt downtown San Francisco is struggling. But it’ll bounce back. San Francisco is still the best city in the world, even with all its very real challenges. We have a bright future & so many of us are committed to making that future a reality.
In San Francisco, new Chinese/API Voter Outreach Taskforce, appearing with supporters of @recallsfboe, say they’ve registered 228 Asian-American voters since December.
@eyessfboe says group’s voter registration drive “can definitely influence the outcome of this election.”
I can desire to raise my kids in San Francisco and I can also be concerned by how it is mismanaged, corrupt, and alienating. I can be inspired by its beauty and diversity and I can be deeply upset by its inhumanity. This is not betrayal. This is love.
There are those who deny that the AAPI community grapples with poverty, racism, and marginalization - including our own electeds, one of whom refers to us as “white adjacent.” The immigrant story is one of struggle and resilience. #AsiansBelong#recallCollins
Hunger in SF Chinatown: Danli Xu took only a few bites of her lunch, before closing the meal box.
She had to save the food for her family.

My friends know me to be a little nerdy. 🤓
So we're getting our message out a little differently!
We don't need superpowers to solve San Francisco's biggest problems.
Just the courage and innovation to lead.
